Hi I'm Mark

About Me

I am an accountant and have worked in a number of different industries such as construction, manufacturing, private enterprises, and consulting. I enjoy reading, working out, racquetball, mowing my lawn, and am presently attending an executive MBA program.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since I was eight. I was a missionary for two years when I turned nineteen, and based my desire to serve a mission on my testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I had read it a number of times, and accepted the challenge of praying to my Heavenly Father whether or not it was a true book. The answers I received convinced me that not only was it true, but that Joseph Smith actually translated it like he said he did, that he was a Prophet who restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth, and that we have a living Prophet today. Not only do I know these things are true, I have had the opportunity of seeing people's lives change because of these truths.

How I live my faith

I attend church meetings each week, and participate in teaching classes and serving in other responsibilities. I have a number of familes in our congregation that I visit each month to see how they are doing and learn if there is anything they need assistance with. I volunteer for various community service projects whenever I have the opportunity of doing so.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Mark
My wife and I have the opportunity of serving as workers in the temple, and there is nothing secret about the activities that occur there. Temples are sacred and only those members who strive to live worthily are allowed into temples. In temples, marriages are performed that seal husbands and wives for eternity. Families who have joined the Church are sealed for eternity as well. Baptisms are perfomed for those individuals who died without having that opportunity. We learn about God's plan for His children, why the earth was created, and what we need to know to return back to his presence. Show more Show less
