Hi I'm Aaron

I'm a native Arizonan, I love my wife and kids, reading, piano, and the outdoors. I'm a computer geek and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love movies, reading, and the great outdoors. Some of my favorite movies include the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, You’ve got mail, X-men, The Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and the Harry Potter series. I enjoy a good sci-fi/horror story a la Stephen King, fantasy books such as the Lord of the Rings which I've read through ten or twelve times, and books on politics and social studies. I like the outdoors and wish I could spend more time there, I’ve learned to appreciate the ecological and geographic diversity Arizona provides me, Arizona can have the extremes in weather from blazing heat to sub-freezing temperatures in the mountains and I think that the desert here is some of the prettiest in North America. Working with computer technology such as the web, smart grid utility technologies, and electronic document management has helped me build a positive career but it is not without its challenges. Working with other technology geeks every day I find being on top of my game a daily challenge, I am constantly learning new things, troubleshooting problems, and setting new goals for projects and my career. The ever-changing landscape of technology is wonderful and exciting but I love the anchor to reality that my faith provides me, the perspective and comfort that life is not about the next big project or the next career move but about all the life experiences that fulfill the ultimate project of all, Eternal Life with my Spouse.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon plain and simply because I know that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are true, I've had confirmation in the least miraculous(which may be the miracle itself) and simplest of ways. When I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about the book in my heart I knew the answer to my question about its truthfulness had already been answered, I knew it was true by the way my mind opened up while reading the book, the way I was inspired while reading 2000 year old stories to resolve current issues in my life, the way I felt peace in my life while reading from the pages of the Book of Mormon. I'm inspired by the teachings of my church on family and how my marriage to my best friend is forever, it gives me greater confidence to know that my marriage is a contract with God and my spouse. The saddest thing in my life is to see marriages fall apart, or as one of my kids called it, "all of the divortions" happening in the world. My marriage has been strengthened because of my perspective on the eternal nature of our relationship. My whole outlook on parenting changed when I realized that "my" children are really my spirit brothers and sisters who I've been entrusted to provide for, teach, and raise. I'm inspired when I see how awesome my kids are and humbled to think my Heavenly Father trusts me enough to let me be a guardian, example, provider, and friend to his children.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon has given me really fun and challenging opportunities to serve my fellow brothers and sisters. I've worked in the Boy Scout organization, with the youth, with other single members of the church and parents. Some of my favorite opportunities have been to work with the children in our church and serve as pianist playing fun and inspiring children's songs every Sunday. When you hear sweet little children of God singing you can imagine the voices of angels backing them up and if you could only put on your x-ray glasses and see through to the other side of our spiritual existence you would see spiritual giants filling those children's frames, it doesn't get any more inspiring than that.
