Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in southern Idaho, went to college in Utah, and have lived in the Northwest and now Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to a wonderful woman and we are the parents of 5 children. I work in marketing for a Fortune 500 company, and when I'm not working, you'll find me road cycling, playing golf, getting my toes painted by my daughters, or getting destroyed by my son in Age of Empires.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe our Heavenly Father sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to show us how to return to live with Him someday. I believe He has sent prophets to teach us his gospel, and if we follow the gospel, we will find happiness in this life and we will live with them again. I believe we are all God's precious children and that He loves all of us.

How I live my faith

One of the things I love about being a Mormon is the many opportunities to serve others. In the church, everyone is given the opportunity to serve, whether by teaching a class of children or adults, supporting youth as they learn to lead, helping others move, and or even cleaning the building and grounds. The Lord showed us during His life that serving others is an important way to feel closer to God, and in the church, there are countless ways to volunteer and serve.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Scott
We believe that death is an important part of our eternal existence. Before we were born, we lived with our Heavenly Father and loved ones. We are born on earth to learn important lessons, to receive a physical body, and then ultimately, to transition from this experience into our next phase of existence. Because Jesus Christ was resurrected, we will be too, so death is not the end. We recently lost a loved one, and knowing this has brought us great comfort and peace knowing that he is not "done", and that we will be with him again. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Scott
We're often called Mormons because of our belief in a book of scripture called the Book of Mormon. This book testifies of Christ and how he related to an ancient American people. Because it testifies of Christ, the Book of Mormon joins the Holy Bible as another witness for Him and reinforces my faith in Christ. Show more Show less
