Hi I'm Kathryn

I live in the United States. I am a Mom, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Kathryn. I was raised as the 5th out of a family of 6 girls and 2 fabulous parents. I now have a family of my own with 1 girl and 4 boys. I am feeling a little out of my element :) I am a teacher by trade, but since having my first child 9 years ago, I have been a full time mom, wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. Life definitley keeps me busy, but very very happy! I love to write, read, cook, and talk, and learn all the lessons of young motherhood while swimming through loads of laundry and peanut butter sandwhiches!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon first and foremost because I know that the teachings of this church are true. I am a Mormon because I have faithful parents that lived the standards of the Mormon church. I saw them live their lives with great love, hope, and happiness, being blessed every step of the way. I knew that if I wanted to have that same purpose in my life, I would have to put in the hard work of keeping the standards prescribed by the Lord. I am a Mormon because it is the only thing that provides hope! I know that my family and I can be okay no matter what is happening around us, if we will keep the Lord's commandments.

How I live my faith

Every day I pray to have little teaching moments with my kids. During these moments I have great opportunuties to plant two things in their hearts. First, a testimony of the Savior and His desire for us. Second, the importance of a family and the Savior's desire for that family to be eternal. In my spare time, I prepare a weekly scriptural lesson to teach the 16 and 17 year olds in my ward, which I love.

Are Mormons Christians?

Kathryn
Yes we are! The first principle of our beief is FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Without this faith, everything we do as a church is of little importance. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Kathryn
I have little control over what the world chooses to view or listen to, but I do have control over myself. I can close the webpage the instant I sense it has pornography on it. I can change the radio station as soon as words are used that bother me. I can only view tv channels that have pure and uplifting entertainment. When the book I am reading portrays inappropriate scenes, I can throw it away or return it to the library..... Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Kathryn
My dad always told me that this was the Lord's insurance policy. Everything we have is from God. He asks us to give Him 10% and then he will help us and we struggle to provide for our families in this life. I know that is the case! We give 10% to help build churchs, temples....and in return, we may not be rich, but we are taken care of! Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Kathryn
The other day I went in to have an ultrasound on my fifth child. As I saw each bone and organ forming in their proper place, I knew that was not an accident, but a precise creation from God. Show more Show less
