Hi I'm Benjy

I grew up in northern California. I am the only boy in a family of 5 kids, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of four children (1 girl, and 3 boys). I am married to a wonderful woman and work as a Division Leader/Business Developer for a national laboratory. I enjoy anything outdoors (hiking, biking, and especially running). My wife and I ran a marathon together a couple of years ago and plan to do it again. I enjoy reading, watching tv and doing anything with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon first and foremost because I was born into the church (both of my parents are mormon). I am also a mormon because I figured out for myself that I believed what was taught was true and resonated with me. I like that the more I learn in life and the more I seek to understand the more the doctrines and beliefs of the church ring true to me. I am happier because of the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I was previously the bishop (local congregation leader) of the town I lived in California. I now sit on the high council (advisory council) for my stake (collection of local congregations). In this role I get to work with a local congregation to train their leaders and work hand in hand as they seek to help people and improve their lives. Even more importantly I live my faith in my day to day life. My family prays together, studies the Bible and Book of Mormon together and teach each other the simple truths of the gospel together. It is in living these simple things daily that brings me joy every day. Living my faith is not a burden but instead gives me a strong compass in my life.
