Hi I'm Karen

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I am a mother, a seamstress, a gardener, and a business owner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to create beautiful things, whether through crafts, writing or music. I have a Master Gardener certificate and enjoy helping my neighbors become better gardeners. I am the president of a semi-professional choir and I own a business helping others preserve their life stories. My husband and I are the parents of seven children, ranging in age from 11 to 23. I have chosen to be a stay at home Mom to my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into an LDS family. However, I do not choose to remain a member of this church simply out of a sense of tradition or loyalty. I am a member of the church because I know it is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I have come to this knowledge through sincere prayer and seeking to draw nearer to God. I have felt His Spirit speaki peace, truth, and enlightenment to my heart and soul in response to my prayers.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. As a family, we pray and read scriptures together every day. In my local congregation I currently serve as the historian. This means I take notes at meetings and take pictures at local church events. I compile these in a binder each year. I also decorate some of the bulletin boards in our church building and arrange for plaques to be made in acknowledgement of the accomplishments of members of our congregation.
