Hi I'm Mike Taylor

I'm a Purchasing Manager, an Army brat, a gamer, I play the Euphonium and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Purchasing and Operations manager. I have been happily married to my wife since 1996. We first met in an Old Testament class shortly after I joined the church. In my gaming hobby I currently play World of Warcraft and have played most of the major MMORPG's that have come out including the first biggy, Everquest. I was in the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps from 1979-1982 and currently play Euphonium in a small patriotic themed concert band that is supported by my church ward (congregation) by letting us practice in the church building. Probably half of the band is also Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I first met Mormons on the internet but back in the days before the "world wide web" with its friendly browsers we all know and love. I loved playing trivia on the Prodigy Online service and that is where I first befriended a Mormon. I asked lots of questions and visited the LDS chat board there frequently. Eventually I traveled out to Utah where my web Mormon family friends hosted me for a week. It took me quite a while though to come to the conclusion that the Church was true. Unlike some people who are blessed to know quickly, I was one to really want to prove or disprove these new ideas intellectually. I read lots of things published by persons unfriendly to the church and even went so far as to also visit one of their churches and to attend an "apologetics" meeting that discussed the supposed errors in the teachings of the LDS church among several other Christian denominations. I also read lots of material from LDS sources discussing and frequently disproving the objections of the others and of course attended LDS church services as well. In the end, I finally realized that no one was going to be able to prove anything to me intellectually. Everyone had an answer to every topic that supported their viewpoint. Although I was told all along that I needed to pray sincerely to know the truth, being the stubborn one I can be, I didn't really do that until I had exhausted my other "intellectual" options. Once I received my personal confirmation that the LDS Church is Christ's true Church restored to the earth, I almost felt silly for wasting so much time. But I suppose everyone has their own path and this was mine.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as a secretary in one of the men's organizations, and I have served in clerical office positions several times. I also serve as a financial auditor for several wards in our area twice a year.
