Hi I'm Ben

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent two years as a missionary in Mexico and since that time I have loved Spanish. I also spent some time living in Bolivia a few years ago. I've also lived in Portugal and speak a little Portuguese. I'm a middle school Spanish teacher and I love what I do. Teaching young people a subject that I love is so much fun. It's often challenging, but it's also very rewarding. I love to travel and to go new places. If I haven't been there, I want to go there. I think my favorite place to visit is Disneyland. In fact, I think my dream job would be to be a tour guide on the Jungle Cruise.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints a year after they got married. They were the first Mormons in both of their families. It was a courageous and bold step for them to take. They raised me in the church and I grew up Mormon. For many years I believed the church was true because my parents had taught me that it was. When I was a teenager I realized that I needed to know if what my parents had taught me was true. I read the Book of Mormon, attend church, and prayed. Each of these things helped me feel great peace and happiness. I've made mistakes in my life that have caused me great regret and pain. Contrasting the feelings that I felt doing what was wrong with the joy I felt from living the gospel helped me to see that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the way to happiness. I have found great peace and joy as I've lived the principles taught in the church. I'm confident that I'm where God wants me to be and I'm very happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to be Christlike everyday. I'm not perfect, of course, but I try my best to treat others the way that the Savior would. I get together with other single adults from the church on Monday nights for a short lesson, treats, and a some kind of group game. Always a blast. I also attend church each Sunday and spend time reading the scriptures everyday. Prayer is also very important to me because I believe that God is my Father and praying is a way for me to thank Him for what He has done for me and at the same time to ask for Him to bless me. It's fun being a Mormon.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Ben
The Book of Mormon is a book of scriptures comparable to Bible. The main difference is that the Bible was written by prophets in the Middle East and the Book of Mormon was written around the same time by prophets in the Americas. The prophets who wrote the Book of Mormon taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how to live our lives according to the commandments of God. The Book of Mormon, just like the Bible, teaches us about the mission of Jesus Christ, but it was written centuries ago by prophets in the Americas. Show more Show less
