Hi I'm Steve Leininger

I am a CPA. I teach people how to make smart decisions about money. I love to mountain bike. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a CPA and consultant to physicians and dentists. I have lived in the Bay Area for the last 30 years where we have raised our 5 children. I enjoy working in outdoor adventures, mentoring social venture teams, and attempting to stay to fit so I can keep up with my 15 grandchildren. My parents divorced when I was 5 years old. My mother at the time was 26, single with 2 small children, no job and no education. Missionaries knocked on her door to teach her that there was hope for her and that God loved her little family. She was skeptical about modern day prophets - fearful that in her desire to have hope, she might be unwittingly deceived. She read and studied the Book of Mormon and followed the promise that if she prayed to ask God if this were true scripture, in the name of Christ, her prayers would be answered. At first the idea that God spoke through prophets in modern times seemed so far fetched. Yes, He had done so in the past - which is how we have the scriptures. As she pondered and prayed to know if Joseph Smith had actually seen the Father and the Son, her answer came, through that same witness of the Holy Ghost. I thank her for her courage and example of faith. Would I have found the gospel of Jesus Christ if not for her? I have been trained to be skeptical. I am trained to look for the negative. But stronger than wordly or physical evidence is the overwhelming power of the witness of the Holy Ghost. To me that is source of real truth and peace.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. He has allowed me to feel truly forgiven and loved. I especially enjoy the Book of Mormon - where I learn even more about Christ. Coupled with the Bible I have such a better perspective of how I should live my life and serve others. Knowing that we have a living prophet on the earth gives me a sense of comfort in this crazy world we live in. The prophet leaders in the Book of Mormon convey the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The existence of the book is tangible evidence that God loves us and that His pure doctrine has been reestabilshed on the earth today. No longer are we left to try and decide which of all the interpretations of the Bible are correct. The confusion and diagreement that exists in the Christian world today makes it impossible to know which of all their contentions are correct. I am a Mormon because of my understanding of the eternal nature of my family. Families are not meant to be temporary, or until death do we part.Through the ordinances in the temples, we are sealed, or bound together, forever. No matter the struggles we endure in this life, that will all be swallowed up through the atonement of Jesus Christ and we will enjoy our familty ties in the hereafter. What better blessing could we hope for? I am a Mormon because of how it makes me feel. I love that we have no paid clergy - we are all given opportunities to serve in God's kingdom.

How I live my faith

I love working with the youth the most. So many come from diverse backgrounds. I love helping to provide them with a safe learning place to grow up with values and faith in God. I also love the opportunities the Church provides for service to the elderly and infirm. The Savior also spent much of His Ministry among the poor. I strive to lift up the hands of those who are discouraged, both in my community and on a global scene.
