Hi I'm Fred

I grew up in Southern California and now live in Maine. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Born into a Hispanic family in southern California, I now live in New England. I love the outdoors and challenges so much I started adventure racing in my 40's. I have 5 children including 2 foster daughters, 1 adopted daughter and a biological daughter and son. I have been a software engineer, IT Director, Marketing Imagineer, public speaker and served on boards for non-prophets. I love to make up lyrics, the youth at church call it free styling.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel I was lucky as my mother converted just before she married my father and he converted 14 years later in time to be sealed in the temple before I was born. I attended a Spanish speaking branch of the church until I was 10 years old. Around 12 my Sunday School class received a challenge to gain a testimony through prayer. Not wanting to wait we each found a secluded spot in our church building. My spot was in an overflow area behind the chapel. There I ask my Heavenly Father if I were attending the true church. The answer came in a still small voice, "You know that your are." I have never forgotten this answer nor the feeling I had that day.

How I live my faith

The thing I love best is the feeling I get when I can serve. I had opportunities to be a gospel teacher for learners from 18 mos to 101 years old. I had a wonderful experience teaching teens at 630am the scripture before they went to high school for 7 years. I taught young single adults in a mid week institute program for 5 years. I find there is no greater calling than teaching.

Are Mormons Christians?

Fred
when I look at the definition as described here, http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/christian, I'd have to firmly declare Yes Mormons are Christians. However we are not a Protestant church. Our church did not break away from any other religion. On this website you will be able to read more about its history. Show more Show less
