Hi I'm Michael

I'm a Mormon living in Mesa, AZ.

About Me

I’m the father of four fabulously fun children and the husband of one tremendously talented wife. I find great fulfillment and joy in spending as much time with my family as I can. I have accepted "the Challenge to Become" as described by Elder Dallin H. Oaks in his excellent talk of the same name and I'm working to become who God knows I can and should be. I love the family that my Heavenly Father has blessed me with and strive to keep my duty to God, family, and my country as the highest priorities in my life. My hobbies and interests include computers in general, web technologies, and most competitive games. I am a movie quote aficionado and find that most experiences in life can be captured by a single movie quote. When you find the right movie quote to fit the occasion, it conveys so much more understanding and meaning than just plain old English. [insert appropriate movie quote here]

Why I am a Mormon

Unfortunately I don't have an engaging and interesting conversion story like my friend a Annmarie Worthington. (you can read about her conversion story here - http://annmarieathome.blogspot.com/2010/07/how-i-became-mormonpart-1.html) I was blessed to have been born of goodly parents who taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ from my infancy. However, just as anyone else who chooses to follow the Master, I had to sacrifice and and act in faith in order to gain my own testimony. I know the doctrine - that it is of God, because I have done my best to do His will. (John 7:17) I choose to continue to follow His gospel because I have tasted the fruit of it, and it is good. VERY good. I understand who I am and what my eternal potential is. Because of Him and the sacrifice that He has made for me, I am filled with the hope of a glorious future, living together with Him and my family. I have received spiritual witness of the reality of my Savior's being - He lives, He has all power, and He is all loving. He wants to help each one of us to become like Him and enjoy the kind of life that He enjoys.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as the ward mission leader. I love the special relationship I'm able to have with the full time missionaries as I serve in this calling. There is no greater duty that I have to God than to share His gospel with all who will choose to listen. Previously I served as the local membership clerk in my ward. It was my responsibility to be aware of people who were visiting or newly moving in to our ward and get their address and other information that will allow us to welcome them into the ward and make sure they are getting the contact they need from members of the ward. Before that calling I was working with the young men in our ward. I got to work with the 16 to 18 year old boys. I loved being a part of their lives in our venturing activities (scouting program for older scouts) and in working on the Duty to God program (a goal-oriented program centering around physical, spiritual, social, and educational areas of life). I was blessed to be involved in a couple of the young men's lives outside of the normal church activities. To a small degree, that involvement has had a positive effect in the lives of those young men, such that each one chose to serve the Lord
