Hi I'm Jennifer

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I am a farmer's wife, a teacher, and a mom. I love music, and love teaching it to children. I love the rural life: the space, the freedom, and the joy that hard work can bring. I was a teacher for many years before I was married, and I left the teaching profession to raise my children. I've never regretted that decision. My family is everything to me. I love to have fun and laugh. My kids give me plenty of opportunity to laugh hard! They're so fun! I love to garden! One day I'll even love to weed the garden! I love to cook. I'm learning to play the guitar, auto harp, and ukulele. And, I'm learning to enjoy running!! Life is full of surprises!

Why I am a Mormon

I know Jesus Christ lives!! I want to follow Christ. I know He loves me. I come from a long line of members of the church, clear back to the early days. I had ancestors who personally knew the Prophet Joseph Smith. I had ancestors who froze on the plains of Wyoming. I was taught the precepts of the church as a child. But, as I grew up, I wanted to be sure for myself that these things I had been taught were true. I wanted to be sure I believed with my own testimony, not just because of family tradition. I prayed a lot to know if the church was true. I studied the scriptures to search for my answer. I never had a great pillar of fire descend upon me, nor did I ever hear a voice telling me these things were true, but I had a peace come upon me. I had a warm feeling in my heart. I knew in my heart and mind that I already knew my answer. God loves and knows me and each of us. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to earth to help us come back to God's presence. This church is the true gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today in it's completeness. This is it.

How I live my faith

I do things that will strengthen my faith, like attending worship meetings, serving as a teacher for the children in our local church. I pray and read scriptures daily. I try to follow the Savior's example. I try to show love for and serve others. Christ loved the little children. I love to help out in our elementary school, because I love those kids! Most have great families! But, there are a few who wonder if anyone loves them. When I serve a child at school, it just may be that I am the only one who showed compassion to that child that day. When I teach the kids to sing, I feel I am giving them a tool they can use to soothe their spirits enough to feel God's love for them. Another way I live my faith is being an advocate of families. This world is not very family friendly. I feel that the family is so vital to God's way of living. I forsook my career to raise my children so that they could make a positive difference in the world. I believe God wants us to have strong families, and I live that belief.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Jennifer
The purpose of the welfare services, as I understand, is to care for people in their times of need. The welfare system blesses the lives of those who receive, but also those who give. Many people are in a state of need. The welfare system gives us a chance to serve their needs as Jesus Christ would, by giving our time, talents and resources for the benefit of others. What do Mormons believe about family?

Jennifer
Families are eternal. If you have a chance to look into a newborn baby's eyes and feel their sweetness, you can get a sense that families are eternal. We lived in a spiritual family before we were born to the earth. We live here as mortal families. We can live together in the eternities as families. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Jennifer
Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God. He is the Jehovah of the Old Testament. He was crucified and resurrected. He is a glorified personage. He lives and has an interest in each of us today. He is our example and advocate with the Father. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Jennifer
The little things that go right. The song that comes on that inspires me just when I am needing it. The rain or snow that comes at the right moment, almost as a soothing note from a loving parent that reminds me He cares. The rainbow, the evening rays of the sun, the laughter of my little boy. The breaks I get when I think I won't get a break. The compassion I'm shown by others when I don't expect it. The warm feeling in my heart that undeniably tells me I am loved by a parent who can love infinitely. Look for the little things. They will whisper with the power of thunder. There IS a God!
