Hi I'm Shauna

I 'm a Musician with a song in my heart. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in a large family -- the eldest of nine -- a home full of commotion. I grew up in California, but moved to the Midwest when I was 17. I went to college and studied Music - as a pianist. I married my husband there, and we live in the Midwest - raising our five children. I find joy in my family, in our faith, in music, gardening -- and surrounding myself with color.

Why I am a Mormon

God is so patient. I feel I have so much to learn. I am a member of His church -- I was baptized by my father when I was eight, and have felt a foundation of faith and security through the years. In my youth - when I felt to ask questions like: "who am I? Where am I going? What is my purpose?", I discovered answers piece by piece. I read the scriptures to become closer to Jesus. I prayed for direction. I studied God's plan of happiness. I have felt his guidance as I have stepped forward - seeking to do His will. I know God lives, there is so much evidence all around us, so many things that are amazing and beyond my comprehension. I feel the blessings of living the gospel that has been restored in our time. My family continues to find safety, peace and joy in learning and living the gospel teachings. It's more than just having the information - or knowledge of the gospel, it's having a community to practice what we've learned. We find joy in serving our brothers and sisters in the gospel, and in our community. I believe in God -- I know that He lives, and that He created all things - both in the heavens and in the earth. I know he has great power and wisdom, and I trust Him.

How I live my faith

I love the security that comes with being a part of religious community. I love going to church each Sunday and being with people that feel like family. In my church family -- I help wherever I'm needed. I've loved playing the piano and organ for services, teaching children songs about Jesus, learning about God and how he is a part of everyone's lives. Recently -- I get to meet with the 12-13 year old girls and we learn lessons about God, about our personal worth and how we can be better. I love the program that teaches the young women -- it creates a sense of purpose, beauty and joy - how fun it is to be a girl!

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Shauna
God our Father - is our Father. Husbands model their role after him. A father gives life to his children, then seeks to provide a safe home where they can grow. He teaches his children so that they might know God, and know right from wrong. He lives a life so that if his children follow his example -- they will find joy. The role of a Mother work in tandem with her husband, giving life to her children, nurturing them in a loving environment, working with her husband to teach her children about God, how he blesses us and wants us to return to Him. These roles seem so clear and basic, that they would seem understood - without further clarification. Yet, the culture we live in has created more confusion and misunderstanding. What it comes down to is this. If God lives, and has created this earth for his children to come to -- to learn and grow, then he needs Mothers and Fathers to honor marriage vows and create a loving home for God's children to be born into. He needs them to be committed to their family -- for all time. Show more Show less
