Hi I'm Preston

I'm an architect of smiles, a want-to-be mountaineer, a family man, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Colorado as 1 of 6 children. My parents, raised on small farms in Idaho, taught me the value of faith, work, and family. Now as a father of 4, my wife and I hope to teach our children those same principles. We dedicate our lives to help our children become their best self and value serving our neighbors. I enjoy the outdoors throughout the year; Winter- skiing snow covered mountains, Spring- hiking in meadows, Summer - a campfire with a brilliant star covered sky, Fall - at the summit of a mountain. Each season and outdoor adventure has it's challenge and reward. I feel that nature testifies of a Divine Creator and a Divine Plan for His creation. As a dentist I appreciate a smile. A smile is an outward expression of inner peace, joy and happiness. Helping restore a smile can instill confidence and elevate self-esteem. Being true to commandments can also instill confidence with God and elevate one's eternal self-esteem. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is my source of inner joy and eternal happiness. I smile when I think of all the blessings I receive by having a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and an understanding of what the atonement of Jesus Christ means to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon in a community with few Mormons and had to understand in a very personal way why I am a Mormon and why I believe the things I do. As a youth I came to understand that although the world may offer entertainment and pleasure the Gospel of Jesus Christ offers true happiness and joy. My friends respected what I believed. As a teenager I read the New Testament, the Book of Mormon and developed a personal relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ. During those formative years I realized I can become so much more with the Gospel of Jesus Christ than if I tried to do it all on my own. I realized God wants to help us as we accept this challenge to become Christians, Disciples and followers of Christ and I daily solicit his help. I continue to refine my understanding of eternal truths as a Husband, as a Father, as a Christian and as a Mormon. The Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon continue to be a source of divine inspiration and a personal compass as I seek to find my way through this mortal experience we call life. Prayer is a vital communication tool to reach out and seek direction from a loving Heavenly Father. No day is complete without personal prayer and scripture reading. Anyone can prove that with a simple 30 day challenge. As I have pondered "what the atonement means to me" I have come to witness that not only is Jesus Christ the Savior of the World but He is my personal Redeemer. I can overcome my sins and weaknesses through his sacrifice and gospel. He gave his life for me. He is my shepherd and I am the one he seeks to rescue. I have also realized as he suffered for all mankind I can come to him in time of sorrow or discouragement and he can provide peace and rest to my soul. It is hard to expresses in words how personal my relationship with him becomes but I know that my Redeemer lives.

How I live my faith

By small and consistent daily activities I seek to live my faith and receive divine inspiration and guidance. One of the essential consistent activities is prayer and reading the Holy Scriptures. It has been said when one wants to talk to God one prays and when one wants to hear God's answer one reads the scriptures. This daily conversation with a loving Heavenly Father is a constant in life's complex equation that has so many variables. I live my faith by serving others. When asked "Who is my Neighbor", Christ responded with the parable of the Good Samaritan. I have found serving my neighbor is a rewarding and a life changing experience. I serve in my church in a variety of ways. I find it rewarding to serve others as they seek to set their pace to come unto Christ and overcome the natural man. In my profession participating in humanitarian missions to third world countries has humbled my heart and lifted my soul. Providing donated dentistry to those in my community makes me a better person. There is something divine in serving one's neighbor whether next door or in a foreign country. I live my faith by helping people smile. Smiling is an outward expression of an inner sense of peace and happiness. Smiling also elevates and lifts one's spirit. When you feel down just try an experiment and SMILE and your attitude will begin to change. A smile is contagious and if we would smile more often we would be happier and more Christ-like people.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Preston
The atonement of Jesus Christ is a gift that offers redeeming and enabling power to all mankind to overcome all trials and obstacles in this mortal life. As the only Begotten of the Father, Christ's atonement offers power to open the door to and recieve eternal life. As the the Savior and Redeemer of the world, Christ is the author of our Salvation and the First Fruits of the Resurrection. In mortality as we experience physical pain and spiritual anguish we learn to make the atonement personal when we say, “Oh, Jesus thou Son of God, have mercy upon me who am in the gall of bitterness and encircled about in the everlasting chains of death.” The feeling of being encircled about by everlasting spiritual or physical chains of death is real. The atonement allows this pain transition to joy, anguish becomes peace and captivity becomes freedom. I have experienced the peace offered through Christ’s atonement. I have also witnessed the atonement bless others through the gifts of compassion, mercy and love. The atonement has the capacity to overcome all physical suffering and trials in mortaliy. The atonement allows good people to become better, to put off the natural man and become saints. It allows us to change our nature and become like Christ. The Atonement of Jesus Christ offers the divine power needed to qualify for eternal life and live in the presence of God. I know he is the way, the truth and the life. Therefore, how great to make these things known to all people. Show more Show less
