Hi I'm Garth

I was raised in Pocatello, Idaho. I have lived in Utah, California and returned to Idaho. I'm in the car business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father of six and grandfather of 24. One of my greatest joys center around the lives of my family. I am a sales manager for a large automotive group. I work long hours and so I value my time at home. I enjoy working in the yard and garden. I am always amazed to watch things grow. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping, but mostly the chance to enjoy these activities with my family. As empty nesters, my wife of 41 years and I enjoy all kinds of adventures together. From walks, hikes, bike rides, and camping to road trips we enjoy our time together. I have a bachelor degree in business administration. I have been in sales and management for nearly forty years. Various employment opportunities have allowed me to live in multiple cities and states. I have been blessed by many friendships developed over the years. I feel like a pretty ordinary guy who has been blessed in an extraordinary way.

Why I am a Mormon

You might say the Mormonism is the faith of my fathers. Some of my ancestors came to America in the mid 1600s from England seeking religious freedom. They were involved in the American Revolution. They Joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1839 and moved with the saints to Nauvoo, Illinois. They were among the pioneers who were driven from Illinois and left everything to go westward with the saints to the Salt Lake valley. Others of my ancestors heard the message of the restored gospel from missionaries in England in the 1840s. Because they knew the message was true they joined the church, even when their families disowned them. They sacrificed everything for their new found faith. They saved enough money for passage across the Atlantic and sailed up the Mississippi River to Missouri where they began the perilous journey to Utah. While Mormonism is the faith of my fathers, it is my faith by choice and experience. I have come to know that God our Heavenly Father has a plan for us his children. Our existence in mortality is part of that plan. God's Son, Jesus Christ has made salvation possible through his sacrifice for sin, death and resurrection. Because of Him we can live with God again. Heavenly Father's Plan makes it possible for families to be together forever. For all who call on his name in prayer God gives answers. We live in a time where we have the scriptures to guide us. God has also called and authorized prophets and apostles today. The heavens are open and by revelation to his prophets and inspiration to us his children we can know what He would have us do. The priesthood power of God, the same priesthood that Jesus gave his apostles nearly 2000 years ago has been restored. I am a Mormon because the Spirit of God, or the Holy Ghost has answered my prayers and told me that the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by keeping the commandments of God as I understand them. I enjoy reading the scriptures, praying, listening to inspiring music and messages and attending church. Currently I have responsibility to work with the young single adults. My assignment give me an opportunity to speak each month to a congregation or ward on an assigned gospel topic. Studying for these talks helps me to increase my understanding and love of Jesus and his teachings. My employment allows me to interact with many people of differing religious beliefs. I recognize all of these as children of a loving Heavenly Father. I am blessed by many of these associations.
