Hi I'm John

I'm a singer. I'm a musician. I'm a band geek. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently work at a retail store while I'm preparing to go back to college. I am a music enthusiast. I love to sing especially with a mens chorus. My favorite songs to sing are hymns and other religious songs, but I also love to sing along with some good old Disney songs or just about anything else! I am also a band geek! I am a trombone player mainly but can play just about any brass instrument. I've played trombone for about 10 years playing concert and jazz band. I also played french horn for a year (which I loved!) as well as trumpet. I was in marching band in high school and loved every minute of it! I marched with a baritone instead of trombone and we compted all across the state. I went back to my high school and helped as an instructor with the marching band for a year. I am currently taking piano lessons and want to also learn gutair. Basically, I love music! I also love to bake! Cookies, cakes, brownies, cheesecake, and just about anything else I love to make and especially love to eat! I also enjoy running and was a distance and cross country runner. I love to be able to just escape and enjoy the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my entire life. I grew up going to church each Sunday and doing all the things a Mormon should do. As I got older I started to really wonder if I actually believed or if I just went because thats what I've always done. It started to trouble me because I didn't know, then I decided I finally needed to figure out what I believed and I sat down and tried to deny it but I just couldn't do it. It came as a tidal wave with a rush of an uneasy feeling and a twinge in my stomach and I knew right then that I could not deny that this was God's true church! I realiezed at that moment, that it had come slowly but surely as I learned more and more and lived my life following Christ's example, and I found a renewed strength from that day on, knowing that it is true! Being a Mormon has become a huge part of me. It truly is who I am. I go to work and go about my life each week, but my faith and church is the center of my life and truly defines me. I AM a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Currently I have the great opportunity to act as the financial clerk in my congregation. I get to directly see how the sacred donations by church members are used to to provide hummanitarian aide and help those who are less fortunate, to build and maintain church house's, provide supplies and to build up the kingdom of God! It is a testament to me to see and be a part of the process of using these funds for sacred purposes and to know that not a penny goes to pay the leaders, instead they are called to the work and willingly serve while still maintaining employment and providing for their families. I have also been able to be an instructor in church meetings and to prepare meaningful lessons to invite the spirit into the members lives and help them to draw nearer to their Lord and Savoir. Each day I also strive to personally remember Christ and His example He set while He lived on this earth. I try to exemplify His loving charity and compassion with all those I come in contact with. I strive to always have in my heart and my mind the sacrifice Christ made for me, to remember how much I mean to Him as an individual, and what He gave up so that I might be forgiven for my sins and to return to Him and our loving Heavenly Father.
