Hi I'm Bryan

I'm a writer, musician, and teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a freelance writer, English teacher, and former professional trumpet player. I love jazz and classical music, and currently serve in my ward as the choir director. I believe music is one of Heavenly Father's greatest gifts because it touches our spirits in a way that words alone can't. I'm the author of two published novels for children and enjoy being creative, whether with words or music. My wife and I have five children aged 17,18,21,23, and 28. We share our home with four of our children, an insane cat, and a very large dog.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Christian, but the church I attended, though full of fine, well-meaning people, did not satisfactorily answer some of the questions I had about the nature of God or the dividing line between salvation and condemnation. When I was eighteen my father joined the church, and sent the missionaries to my college dorm to visit me. After following their counsel to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it, I knew I had found the truth I had been searching for. For thirty-seven years now I have been blessed to be a member of the true church, and the knowledge I've gained through study and service has strengthened my faith immeasurably. I know that God has restored the true church to the earth with prophets, apostles, and the authority to act in his name. There is great peace in following the counsel of divinely appointed leaders.

How I live my faith

Whether as a teacher, a leader, or a rank-and-file member of the church, I have been blessed in whatever assignment I've been given. I try to be an example both to church members and non-members and try to remember that I have made a covenant to represent the Savior in all that I do. Peter was told by the Lord "when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." I strive to strengthen my conversion to the gospel through service.
