Hi I'm Andy

I love my wife & my family. I speak Russian, and I love NHL hockey! I enjoy ocean and stream fishing, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a father and husband to a wonderful family. I love to play sports and to be in the outdoors, especially in the mountains of Colorado. I love to attend hockey games, go out to eat, and sleep! I speak Russian (served a church mission in southern Russia), and I hold a BS in Communication and an MBA in Global Management. I have worked for several professional sports teams (MLB & NBA) and have taught community college.

Why I am a Mormon

I love people, and I know that good people across the world can unite to cause great things to happen. God is our Father, and He blesses us. Because God is real and we can know this for ourselves, He wants all of us (His children) to follow the example of His Son, Jesus Christ in order that we prepare for life with Him. I choose to follow the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because Jesus Christ is the leader of this organization. I love Him, and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to overcome my weaknesses through His grace and enabling strength. He has provided a clear-cut path to happiness through living prophets and scriptures (Bible and Book of Mormon). Furthermore, I know that the Book of Mormon is an inspired volume of scripture. I study it, and everytime I do, the Holy Ghost whispers truth to my soul. The example of Jesus Christ, coupled with scriptures and living Apostles, help me to become a better man, husband, father, employee, and member of humankind. I give my personal witness to the world that as we draw near unto God, He draws near unto us (James 4:8). We do this by keeping His commandments and by exercising faith to be true Christians.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith best in my home and neighborhood by being a positive, fun, and supportive husband and father to my beautiful family. My wife and I pray together and we teach our children the tender mercies of God through nightly scripture study (Bible and Book of Mormon stories) and as teaching moments in day-to-day life surface. I pay tithes and offerings to the Lord, as recorded in Malachi of the Old Testament. I attend communion/mass (Sacrament) every Sunday to remember the life and mission of Jesus Christ. I keep an updated journal of life's ups and downs AND how I recognize the Lord's Hand in our life. My hope is that one day I will share this with my children so that they will see that their mother and father recognized and loved God. I currently am a leader in the men's group of our congregation. I help oversee and communicate with the Bishop (pastor) of my congregation the needs of the members of our group and their families. I try to find ways to build unity and brotherhood among the men (and their families) in our congregation.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Andy
Absolutely! Family relationships can last forever—not just for this life or 'until death do you part'. Just as some of life’s sweetest joys can come through family associations, the loss of a beloved family member can be a source of our deepest sorrows. Jesus Christ gave power to His disciples to seal families together forever when He said, “And it will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” Matthew 1619. Family members who accept the Atonement of Jesus Christ and follow His example can be together forever through sacred ordinances performed in God’s holy temples. These ordinances seal a husband and wife together for all eternity and children to their parents as an eternal family. See “The Family A Proclamation to the World” Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Andy
The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ is our Savior. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these prophets, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around the time of Jeremiah. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. These prophets knew about the mission of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared after His Resurrection to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible. In addition, the Book of Mormon contains prophesies and teachings of ancient prophets regarding the scattering and gathering of Israel, the colonization of America, whether or not infant baptism is necessary, how we can overcome carnal natures, how we can develop faith in Christ, why Jesus Christ was baptized, how Satan works to deceive and tempt mankind, how we can build our foundation on Christ, and why we must worship Jesus Christ as our Redeemer. The Book of Mormon concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true Moroni 104 & 5. Show more Show less
