Hi I'm Phil

I grew up near San Francisco. I'm a college student, volunteer, and friend. I believe in God and in myself. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in St. Louis and grew up in California (more specifically, the Bay Area). My parents are both Mormon and consequently I was raised in the LDS church. I love my family and feel very blessed to have them in my life. As a college student I try to keep myself active in my school, church, and community. I am involved with my school's service association and various non-profit organizations; I get a sense of fulfillment from knowing my efforts bless the lives of others. I love sports--football, basketball, wrestling, running, volleyball, ping-pong, etc.

Why I am a Mormon

I love it! Abiding by the standards I know to be true empowers me. The Gospel gives me answers to the most important questions in life and also gives me a clear perspective of what I am and what I can become.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend my Sunday church meetings and also attend a religion class weekly. The congregation I attend is comprised of all college students and I currently serve in a position which allows me to plan activities for them. In preparation for my Sunday church service, I strive to do things throughout the week that are in harmony with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During sacrament meeting, the central portion of church service, I reflect on my Savior's atonement, and think of ways I can become better. Everyday I strive to love God (by doing what he asks) and love my neighbors.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Happiness! God loves us and wants us to be happy. He has given us everything we need in this life to achieve true joy and has shown us where to find these things. Throughout our lives we are given many choices and our Father in heaven is anxious to help guide us safely home. Our existence is not an accident and it is not random, so be happy! Show more Show less
