Hi I'm Emily

I'm a wife, a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

God blessed me with the greatest family I could ask for. They were and are still such a great support to me. Family means so much to me, and I'm glad that they are mine! I am married to my best friend who I met in junior high. If you had of asked me at age 14 whether I would marry the kid who sat across from me in math class I would have laughed at you. We really got to know each other in high school and became best friends, and were inseparable until he left to serve a mission for our church in Spain. I'm still so grateful for that opportunity to get to know him better through letters and for the growth we both experienced while he was gone. When he came home we started dating and 9 months after that we were engaged. Over the past few years my husband and I have been going to school. I graduated in 2010 in Vocal Performance. and he will graduate in Mechanical Engineering next year. I love music and the way it makes me feel. I love singing even though surprisingly it scares me to death to sing in front of a lot of people! I love sewing, cooking new things, teaching other people how to sing, blogging, watching a good movie, running, and spending time with family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home. When I was a teenager I had this intense desire to know for myself whether what I had been taught was true. I read and studied the Book of Mormon and Bible. I prayed to know if what I was reading was true. I found the answer I was looking for....I had known all along! I already it was true because I felt a deep desire to know more, and because the gospel gave me answers no one else could. I know it's was true because it makes me happy everyday. The gospel provides me with indescribable peace. The hard times in life are not so hard when I have a clear perspective of what is most important. My husband and I have struggled over the past 3 1/2 years to have a child. For a while I thought it might be because God didn't want me to be able to have children. I was hard, I asked "why me" so many times! It wasn't until I found myself on my knees in prayer regarding my situation that I began to feel his love. This wasn't God punishing me...it was an experience I needed to grow. God knew what I needed to strengthen my trust in him, and for me to truly understand that he loves me as an individual. After going through fertility treatments I was finally able to get pregnant. I can't wait to be a Mom! I'm so grateful for the blessings and the peace my Heavenly Father gave me in my time of need. I'm grateful for the strength I found in Jesus Christ and the Atonement. I would not be who I am today if I wasn't a Mormon. Being a Mormon defines me.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday. I makes me happy to get away from everyday life to learn more about my Savior Jesus Christ. I have the opportunity to serve and teach the women in our church building. By teaching lessons, and visiting them I try to help them to better understand gospel principles. This opportunity has helped me to build strong friendships with other women, and has help me to grow as a person.
