Hi I'm John,

I have a wonderful family, and they are my treasure. I try to live so that I will never let them down and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in San Diego, CA and grew up in Sacramento and Montclair CA. I attended Chaffey Jr. College for a year and then served 2 1/2 Years in Denmark on a mission for the Church. Upon my return after a summer job I continued my education at Brigham Young University. It is there I started dating and married my sweetheart. We now live in Mesa AZ and have 4 children, 11 grand children, and 17 greats (#18 on the way). I am still working as a Financial Planner, working in the church as a teacher and looking forward to serving another mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am 6th generation mormon so I grew up in the church and my family were very active in the church. When I was 8 yrs old I was asked by my Bishop if I was ready to be baptized. I wanted to be like my parents and cousins that had already been baptized so we traveled to Roseville, CA where there was a font and I was baptized by my father who also confirmed me and gave me the gift of the holy ghost. We were living with my uncle Bay Hutchings as we just had moved. They had a tradition of giving the newly baptized child a new Book of Mormon so my parents thought that would be a good tradition. When my father handed me the book and I took hold of it a shock shook my little 8 year old frame. I could feel something in every cell in my body. The Holy Ghost witnessed to me that this book was true and that if I studied it all my life along with the Bible that I would find happiness and help others to as well. I am a true beliver!

How I live my faith

I know that Heavenly Father loves all his children. We are all brothers and sisters here to learn and to help each other. Being a part of a family is a great thing. Serving them is my greatest joy. I love my wife and children (especially my grand and great grand children) and when I make them happy I am the happiest. I also enjoy serving my fellow saints in the church by teaching the gospel lessons from the scriptures. I also like being involved in the organizations that I belong to for my work. There is nothing that feels better or more fullfilling than helping someone else with something they need, even if it is helping them move, or find a job, or help them with the computer, etc. Serving others is my favorite hobby!

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

John,
Our soul is made up of a physical body and a spiritual body. A testimony is a witness made to our spiritual body by the Holy Ghost of the divinty of the Lord Jesus Christ and the truthfulness of his gospel restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. This spiritual withness can be felt by and can infuence our physical bodies. When we share that testimony with others and they are seeking the Holy Ghost can touch their spirits as well. If that person contiunues to pursue those feelings they will obtain their own testimony! It is one of the greatest of Heavenly Fathers gifts to his children. Show more Show less
