Hi I'm Michael Joe

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Northeast Missouri. I enjoy reading and playing around on the computer especially for Family History. My wife and I have been married nearly 20 years. I serve in the US Army and will soon retire from active service and begin to serve in other ways.

Why I am a Mormon

I encountered The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and began listening to the missionaries in college. I knew that I wanted more out of life and didn't like the direction mine was going. I had some firm beliefs about God and how He should treat His children but hadn't encountered anyone teaching those things. When the missionaries explained that God had a plan for His children that did not have a chance to hear the Gospel I knew that I had found His church. I read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and followed the counsel to ask God if it was true. I found that it was true all on my own and love the Lord.

How I live my faith

I serve as the Sunday School President and oversee Gospel teaching in my ward. I am often called upon to teach, sometimes at the last minute so I must prepare three lessons a week so that I can teach or easily participate in the class when observing the teachers.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Michael Joe
The Church grows because we ask each person to know for themselves about its truth. Also we ask ourselves to demonstrate our faith through our actions. A faith that requires nothing of its members is doomed to fail because a true believer wants to go forward doing good works. Show more Show less
