Hi I'm Kim

I love creating & decorating! I love this life I've been given. I love my family & the Savior. I'm a Mormon, and I love it!

About Me

My husband and I's first date was to his senior prom. The way the story has been told to me is that he was so nervous to ask me, he almost didn't! Apparently, he called the first six digits of my number, only to hang up, over and over again. I'm so glad he finally did ask because I love our life together! He is earning his PhD in Finance, and I am a stay-at-home mom of our two children, ages 3.5 and 2. Nothing has brought more happiness, fulfillment, and anxiety to my life as the role of mommy. While in college, I studied abroad in the Republic of Panama and in London, England, and ultimately got a degree in public relations with a minor in education. I love the challenge of decorating our home, planning parties, being outside, writing, exercising, painting, learning more about the gospel, & teaching it to my children and the youth of the church .

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because I believe in the doctrine & teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I know them to be true. They are centered completely on Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because all of the questions I have ever had concerning God, the reason for my existence, and what happens after we die are answered perfectly, and clearly by the doctrine of the church, and the answers make so much sense. I am a Mormon because I have tested and followed the teachings of this gospel and found that there is no other way to be happier in this life than by doing so. Most importantly, I am a Mormon because I know that this church is the church that Jesus Christ established while he was on the earth, and that it has been restored to the earth again. I love my Savior with all of my heart, and I want to do as he would have me do. I know being a member of His church is exactly that.

How I live my faith

In my family, I plan and carry out simple Gospel lessons for our weekly "Family Home Evenings" (FHE). I didn't have regular FHE's in my home growing up, but the prophet has counseled us to do so, and so my husband and I have a desire to have this special time together with our children. The lessons are always short, and they're always followed by a game & a treat. Now that I am a mom, I see how incredibly precious and meaningful these evenings are, and understand why the prophet so strongly encourages us to have them. It's so nice to have a time carved out weekly that we can all count on to sit down as a family and pray together, sing hymns together, and laugh and play together. It invites the Spirit & strengthens the love in our home, and it brings such great satisfaction as a parent when my son recalls something he learned during FHE later in the week. We also have daily family prayer and scripture study. Even though we only read a few scripture verses with our children each day, it also greatly blesses our family. At church, I work with the teenage girls (ages 12-18) and I love it. I meet with them every Tuesday evening, and I often teach on Sundays. I find working with the youth to be incredibly rewarding and full of purpose because they are faced with such challenges each and every day; they, as we all do, need consistent reminders of who they are as children of a loving Heavenly Father, who they have the potential to become, that Jesus is their Savior and friend, and that they can always turn to him. It is a humbling opportunity to help remind them of these things. In doing so, I am in turn reminded of these truths for myself.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Kim
As we are all imperfect beings, we would all fall short of being worthy to reside in the presence of God in heaven. Yet, our main purpose in this life is to make it back to Him. We need an intermediary, someone who is perfect, who can make up for all of the places where we lack so that we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. That someone is Jesus Christ. He is our Savior because he loved our Heavenly Father and each of us so much, that he gave his own life so that he could save ours. As the only perfect person to ever walk the earth, Jesus willingly took upon himself our sins, so that we could be forgiven and could have a chance to live with him and our Father in Heaven again with our families. His sacrifice paid our debts. Without Jesus Christ, we could have no hope. He has made it possible for us to repent and be cleansed of whatever sin we have in our lives. Because of him, it is never, ever too late for us to be saved from despair and discouragement and to be made whole and complete and happy. He loves each and every one of us. Jesus Christ's purpose gives us purpose, and his love can be felt immensely as we pray to know that God is there, that He knows our names, that He loves us, and wants us to return to live with Him again.
