Hi I'm Jan

I live in Scotland and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been involved in IT training and support for over 15 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church back in 1991. Although I had a partner and 2 young children at the time, I felt there was a lot more to life. To me, joining a church might provide the answer. Of course, this was before the Internet and I remember scanning the columns in the Yellow Pages for a local church. I remember that it was a Wednesday in April 1991. My finger stopped at the entry for "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". I didn't realise it was the Mormon church - all I knew was that I was being prompted to make a phone call. I called the church, and 2 sister missionaries came out to my home and started teaching me. Everything they told me felt right and I knew that I wanted to be like them. It was evident that they were happy and that their lives had purpose. By the end of the first week of meeting with the sisters, I decided that I wanted to be baptised. My partner agreed that we would get married so that I could join the church. I regularly attended chuch and other church-related activites for 4 months. We were married and I was baptised 2 days later. Like the sister missionaries, I have found happiness and a purpose in my life.

How I live my faith

Currently I am a Youth Sunday School teacher. I've also been involved in teaching Primary age children and adults about the Gospel. I've had loads of other callings and responsibilities in the past, including being a Family History Librarian, where I helped both members and non-members to research their family trees.
