Hi I'm Steve

I'm a Mormon. Except when I attended BYU and later served as a missionary in Sweden, I have lived in the Seattle area all my life.

About Me

I run marathons, play golf, and have 6 grown children and several grandchildren

Why I am a Mormon

The doctrines of Mormonism (Church of Jesus Christ) encompass all truth, irrespective of the source. This appealed to the philosopher in me, as I recognized much good in divergent faiths. There is great confirmation in more than one witness of God's truth; the Bible being one and the Book of Mormon being another primary testament of Christ as the Creator, Savior, and Redeemer of all mankind. Sadly, too many judge the Book of Mormon by its cover, following prejudice based on notions falsely formed from others opinions. I have read it and find it clear and compelling...an easy read, actually. And inspiring. It truly is the word of God.

How I live my faith

I have learned that 'as a man thinks, so is he'. Purity of thought, kindness, and concern for others has the tendancy to bring happiness and peace to my life. I serve in the church wherever I am needed, and have also served in my community via youth sports, road clean-ups, and various volunteer opportunities.

What is faith?

It starts with a hope, or maybe a kernal of belief that there is a God and something more than the physical life we lead (all too briefly). My belief was built into faith when I read the Book of Mormon, as it set out in a language more easy to read than the Bible the tenents of Christianity using a story format. I have received additional confirmations during the last 30 years when I have lived the princioples I learned, have attended church meetings and felt the Spirit, and when I pray. Show more Show less
