Hi I'm Rachel

I am a mother of 4. I teach part time. The Ukelele makes me happy. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to the kindest man i ever met, and we have 4 amazing children.. Two girls and two boys. My oldest son has Autism. I am a primary school teacher and although I left my career to have my children, But now do a few days supply here and there. I volunteer on a school governing body. I love baking and all things vintage. I am trying my hand at gardening! I am teaching myself to play the Ukelele- just because it makes me smile. We live a very routined life due to my sons love of ritual and routines....sometimes it can get very difficult...but we work together, love each other and forgive each other all along the way!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to Mormon parents. My Mother taught us with love and by example about the the principles and doctrines of the Church. My Father chose a different path, and chose to have little involvement with us from an early age. From a young age i felt i needed to decide for myself if this Church was true.My way of doing that was to make an experiment of my life. I would try out all the commandments and see if the blessings i had been promised really would come. Needless to say ..they did. When i was 16 my faith began to be tried greatly. My Mother developed a degenerative brain disorder, and began to deteriorate. I assumed responsiblility of our home and finances, and for my younger brother and sister, And when my mother was finally hospitalised i realised that through the whole experience we had been 'carried' through our trials...it really was as the poem says..only one set of footprints in the sand..and they were the Saviours'. As life with all its twists and turns has unfolded, my every experience has been the same. Life has been hard for me, and those early experiences took their toll. There have been many days i have relied completely on the Lord to get through that day. I know that there is a Heavenly Father who loves us. I know he sent his Son to earth to die for us. I know that they have provided us with all the help we need to return to live with them one day and i know that way is through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

My faith has everything to do with who I am, what I spend my time on and everything I want to become. I currently work with the children at Church. I prepare lessons and help organise activities to help them learn about their faith. I experience great joy when they understand new things and notice the happiness it brings them. I also enjoy visiting and helping some women in our community. I am a Governor at one of our children's schools and do a lot of work for the development of Special Needs provision there. My job currently entails working with children with additional learning needs teaching them personal, social and emotional skills. It is extremely rewarding. My heart really is at home though. I like to be involved with my children's lives, and prepare them well to become independent adults physically and emotionally. I hope that they will want to continue with our faith as it brings happiness now and lasting peace and joy.
