Hi I'm Sergio

I'm a multi-cultural Latter-day Saint.

About Me

From childhood, my parents have planted within me the seed of curiosity about the world. I love to learn. I will forever be a student of language, religion, geography, history, and culture. In a world so large and so diverse, I find it difficult to narrow my interests to one area. There is so much we can learn and adapt to in the world around us. I grew up in a multi-cultural household and intend on creating the same type of home with my future family someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS faith. At various points during my adult life, I've been faced with crossroads where I've needed to decide whether to continue on this path or give up. When I am full of doubt, fear, resentment, misgivings, or mistrust in humanity, I retreat to a power greater than myself. I know a God who is there, even when we feel we don't need Him. In those moments when we feel more alone than ever before in our lives, He is there to provide strength and comfort in His presence. I remain a faithful Mormon because I know that ultimately I am a better person for it. The religion brings happiness and peace into my life. In all my searching, I know I cannot find such joy anywhere else.

How I live my faith

Faith requires action. Our righteous actions come not only out of duty, but out of love. When we love God, we are inclined to serve others. I find joy in serving. I currently work with a group of young men ages 12-18 from the inner-city. The world they face each day is not a comfortable place. By setting an example of how to serve others, their world will be a little less uncomfortable.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Life as a Mormon can seem odd, intriguing, or boring to an outsider. But within the faith, you encounter a beautiful perspective for looking at the world. You observe how all things work together for good for those who love the Lord. Each day of life is full of meaning because you give it meaning. You realize that you don't need money, praises, or power to be happy. Life becomes full of simple joys. As a Mormon, you commit yourself to keep all of God's commandments. Sure, it can become extremely difficult, but as Mormons, we also believe in repentance. I've learned (and am still learning) to trust in Jesus Christ to be my ally and coach through the hard times of life. Show more Show less
