Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a 30-year-old mother and wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 30-year-old wife and mother of 2 kids. Life is exciting and busy being a mom of a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old. My husband and kids are the joy of my life. I love spending time with them, hanging out with my girlfriends, reading a good book, exercising, cross-stitching, and adding to my recipe blog macdonaldscafe.blogspot.com.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon means everything to me. The knowledge and understanding that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me lightens my load and gives me direction and purpose in life. I can't imagine life without the gospel. The feelings I get at church, the temple, or reading the scriptures and praying with my family fills my life with the love of God. Being a Mormon gives me great and lasting happiness, unlike the things of the world that don't give true happiness, just fleeting pleasure.

How I live my faith

My husband is the ecclesiastic leader in our local congregation. This is very time consuming for him on top of the full-time job that he has. There are no paid clergy in this church, so he has a regular job on top of being a bishop. As a bishop, my husband spends a lot of time helping the people in our congregation with their spiritual, temporal, emotional, and mental needs, so it takes him away from our family quite a bit. This leaves me to do a lot of the job of raising and taking care of our two kids on my own. It is such a joy to know that he is helping so many and that I am giving him the opportunity to do that by taking care of a lot of the family responsibilities. I feel like our family is serving the Lord in this way by giving up some time together in His service by serving our congregation.

What is the First Vision?

In 1820 a young boy, Joseph Smith, went to pray in a grove of trees to find out which church he should join. As he was praying he saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. They spoke to Him and called him by name and called him to be a prophet once again on the earth. This last summer we had an opportunity as a family to visit this grove of trees, the Sacred Grove, and feel such beautiful, sacred feeling there. I felt very strongly while I was walking through those trees that Joseph Smith really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in that grove. I know he did. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes! One of the most comforting doctrines to know is that my husband and I will be married forever. Heaven wouldn't be heaven without him. As I have seen friends lose children or spouses, I have seen them find true comfort that only God could give them letting them know that what they believe is true - that they will be with their loved ones again after this life is over. This is possible through temples, which the Lord has placed on the earth for the binding and sealing of families to each other. Show more Show less
