Hi I'm Jenalee

About Me

I'm a mother with grown up daughters. I enjoy creating scrapbooks, photo books, taking pictures, writing family stories, and researching family history.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to be born into a home where both parents were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They took me to church with them nearly every Sunday during my growing up years. Their great grandparents and great great grandparents were converts to the church. Those ancestors left homelands like Denmark and England to gather with the members of the church in Utah. Other ancestors came across the plains to settle in Utah when there were no cities or towns there. Their willingness to leave what they had and start over with next to nothing because of their testimonies of the gospel are a great strength to my testimony. The more I try to serve others, study the scriptures, pray, repent when I do wrong, and keep the commandments, the more convinced I become of the truthfulness of the gospel. I feel more peace and joy when I make choices in line with the commandments.

How I live my faith

At the moment I am assigned with a companion to visit with four women each month, to share a gospel message with them and to see if there is any help that they need. Usually the visits are a time to build friendships and to share the gospel with each other. Sometimes there are needs such as helping to find a water leak, or calling someone to check on why a heater isn't working. Over the years I have taught just about every age group from 18 months old to 18 years old. For a few years I planned educational and fun activities for 8 to 12 years old girls. I have been in charge of activities for the women in our ward for several years. There seems to always be a way to serve, like helping with a meal after a funeral, taking food in to a sick person, giving a ride to someone or just being a friend. I find great purpose and joy in serving.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Jenalee
When you have something good, you want to share it with others. If you went on a fun trip and saw some wonderful things, you would want to tell others about it so they might be able to go on a trip to the same place and see those wonderful things. If you had a wonderful meal at a good restaurant, you would want to tell others about how good the food is there. If you watched a good movie, you would want to tell others about how good it was so they could watch it too. Mormon missionaries want to share the gospel with others because of how much their lives have been blessed by the gospel. They want to share what they know so that others can experience the joy and happiness that they have found. Show more Show less
