Hi I'm Mickey Lee

About Me

I am an empty nester having raised 5 daughters. We have Thirteen grandchildren. This has made life fun and eventful. I look forward to their visits. My wife is an RN and I have a . I enjoy wood carving , fishing, and camping. I like to compete in indoor rowing, it helps keep me active and fit.

Why I am a Mormon

My belief in the eternal nature of families. In a nut-shell that is it. Father in Heaven has given us a plan of happiness which tells us we lived before this earth life , He is there now for us, and we will live with our loved ones after we cross over into the comfort of those we love and know. My extended family were members of the Mormon faith. Through them I saw a vision of what a family could be. They were not perfect, but I felt something different around them. Something I wanted, and did not have. As a youth I was part of a broken home, two failed marriages and not a lot of peace and harmony. This experience left a lifetime impression on me. It helped me choose early between a Mormon life and some other path. More than anything I wanted the love of a family because I felt I did not have it. I hoped I could create it with the help of God . I gained a testimony of Gods plan through searching the Book of Mormon and fervent prayer. I can have the opportunity to be with those I love . Gods plan of happiness is for me and is real. Just as it is for all His children.

How I live my faith

I love to attend church on Sundays. I am a Bishop of a wonderful congregation of 150 young single youth attending Brigham Young University. This keeps me on my toes. My wife and I attend, teach and encourage the members each week to love the Lord and keep His commandments. They are terrific ! Sundays start early as I meet with all the members who assist in helping things run smoothly. I am so blessed to have great councilors and assistants who give selfless service to these young men and women. Brigham Young University is a special place where the spirit of the Lord can abundantly assist in the learning process and increase testimony , as these young men and women live their lives in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mickey Lee
One has to admit that everyone tends to gravitate towards folks who believe and think like one does . We feel more comfortable when we stay in our comfort zones . However, as Christians we have the opportunity to serve everyone around us. We are sons and daughters of God and thus a brother or sister in the family of man. This common thread binds us all to serve one another.... Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Mickey Lee
Yes . This is a belief which helps me do what I do every day . It binds me to my sweetheart in a way that creates a bond of happiness and trust. I, in her , and she, in me. We must work at being good to each other because we will be togeather for a long time. I also look forward to seeing those loved ones who have passed over to the after life. They are as real there as they were when they lived on the earth. Can't wait to see my Grandfather again..... Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Mickey Lee
When I dress for church I just wear the best I have. I have been on vacations and attended church in jeans and a collared shirt. It was the best I had with me. Most of the time I will wear a suit and tie. It is more important that you come to church than how you are dressed.... As a leader in the church I represent the Lord in my service and so I look the best I can for Him. I do not want to be a distraction to those who want the Spirit of the Lord to influence their lives at church. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mickey Lee
No, however the oppertunity to serve the Lord in this way is a blessing. Young men are encouraged to live their lives as to allow them to serve and deliver the Lords message . Young women have the same opportunity as well. When the silver hair sets in and families are raised, we have another opportunity to serve a mission as an elderly couple if we choose . This is a missionary church, kindly teaching whoever wants to know more. Serving a mission is an outward expression of an inner commitment to God and the love of His children. Show more Show less
