Hi I'm Kim

I've been a veterinarian, a stay at home mom, a caregiver, and I will soon be a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 54 year old (how did that happen?) widow with five children, who has been a church member pretty much all of my life. By profession I'm a veterinarian and have enjoyed interacting with and treating animals and meeting their owners. I have loved animals my whole life, and have wanted to be a vet since I was probably 6 or 7. My favorite pastimes are doing things with my children, indexing (entering data from old censuses into the computer so that they can be made searchable), kickboxing, basketball, teaching, and going to the temple to do ordinances for relatives and others that have passed on. I also love reading, especially the scriptures, singing and playing the piano (although I'm not that good), and learning new things. I am excited to live in a foreign country for a year and a half to serve my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

I have a strong testimony that Jesus Christ is my Lord, Savior, and Redeemer, and that God the Father is the literal father of my spirit, and as such loves me very much. God has always been there for me, and has helped me through the many trials and challenges of my life. With his help I know that I can overcome all things, and that I am becoming a better person because of them. This life has also brought tremendous joy, especially through my awesome family. I have had the opportunity to do many things, such as live many different places, and visit many of the world's wonders. I love serving my God through helping others, and look forward to helping many more. Service truly brings joy into my life, as does the beauties this world offers and the friendship of many outstanding people. I am so grateful that I was born into the true church as Christ established it anciently, and have read all the scriptures many times, including the Old and New testaments, as well as The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and other modern scriptures. They have taught me so much, and have been a great comfort in my life. Knowing where I come from and that there truly is an afterlife where I can live eternally with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and also with my family is really an awesome thing. You can't get much better than that!

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in my church, which is really what the gospel is all about. I have spent many years being a Den Leader and even Cub Master in our cub scout den. I love playing with the 8-11 year old boys - they are so enthusiastic and fun to be around! I've also taught many classes in primary ( Sunday School for children 3 to 12). I love teaching about the gospel, and especially telling all the neat stories in the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other scriptures. Right now I am Young Women's camp director, which means I get our girls from 12 to 18 ready for summer camp where I get to swim in the lake with them, go hiking, do crafts, and also help them grow spiritually. I have had such fun! I'm also the "go to" person for indexing (see above) in our ward, which is also really rewarding, and I am also a ward missionary. That means I get to go with the missionaries to teach people searching for the true church of God, and also help teach the new members. My ward is also great about serving others, and I get to help on many occasions there, too. I also work in the Medford temple's office, and go to the temple frequently. I love to serve there, associate with the awesome people who help, and feel of my Savior's love and peace. It's pretty awesome! Recently my son left on a mission, and I, too, will soon leave to serve my Heavenly Father in Malaga, Spain. I am so grateful to my Father in Heaven and love him so much! I am truly blessed.
