I'm a first year law student, and I love to laugh... despite those things not meshing well. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an active college student. I love hiking, fishing, and spending any time I can laughing. I seek out as many opportunities as I can get to find friends to laugh at and with me.

Why I am a Mormon

It works. Every step I've taken in faith has opened another window to seeing the truth of the Lord's gospel. I can always count on the gospel, and more importantly, on my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. The wonderful message that has been shared with me has never steered me wrong. For every new thing I learn, I try it. And after I've tried it, I see that... well... it works!

How I live my faith

My faith is interwoven in all areas of my life. I have the chance to visit other members of my faith every month and to ensure their well-being. It's a great way that we all can look out for one another.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Sometimes people think that because we follow a prophet we are a cult. It could also be because some of our traditions and beliefs are not what others believe. When I've looked in the dictionary, a cult is actually just a group of followers of a specific set of religious beliefs... in that regard, almost every person that follows any one religion is technically in a cult. How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Generally the missionaries themselves, their families, friends, or congregations or any combination of those help to pay the way for young missionaries to perform their service in far away places. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

It is the word of God. We believe that the messages contained in the Bible were delivered to prophets and other servants of the Lord, Jesus Christ. These messages are valuable insights into how we are to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and find true and lasting happiness. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Nope. I personally witnessed hundreds of LDS men volunteer to leave their regular busy schedules, and sacrifice their time to travel to the gulf coast to help victims of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. It was inspiring to see so much sacrifice. Mormons try to lend a helping hand in every major crisis, and the minor crisises and causes in their communities around the world. I'm also part of a local church program to tutor people who are learning English as a second language. We're helping people in my community who are not of our faith. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

That it's the truth. The Lord, through his modern prophets has set up an incredible organization that is completely orderly and organized. It allows for growth. I truly believe that the organization of this church could not be conceived by men and women. The growth of the church comes from the true message this church shares, and the organization that carries it to the world. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are strong, powerful forces for good in this world. They tend to stand out in all societies as people of enduring service and charity. My mother and father raised me in a home where they were each equal partners, although, sometimes it seemed that Mom "wore the pants." Truly my mother, and many other Mormon women, have been a profound influence on my understanding of the truth and have shown me how the gospel can bless my life. Show more Show less
