Hi I'm Dillon

About Me

Hi! My name is Dillon and I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since I was 8 years old. I am currently enrolled at Brigham Young University and I absolutely love the outdoors. I love to fish, bike, hike, camp, and run! I really enjoy having fun with friends and family, and enjoying my hobbies and interests with them. I also am a woodworker, and I love wood-turning, scroll-sawing, and carving! I also enjoy the activities, and church services that I have the privilege to be a part of.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into a family that were already members of the Church, I, like everyone else, had to go through my own personal conversion in my heart. I pride myself in being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that it is the true Church on the Earth today. I know that God loves me and he wants what is best for me. I know that his Church has been restored in a very similar manner as the New Testament times. I follow Christ's Gospel because I know that it is the key to happiness in this life and into the eternities. Being a Mormon has helped me to love one another, and become a better person. I know that Christ's gospel is for everyone and I have a personal testimony that I have felt of its truth, and I don't just believe, I know. That is why I am a Mormon, and I am so glad that I am.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending all of my church meetings, and participating in the youth group activities that the LDS Church provides. I have served the past couple of years in my church youth group level class as the youth-leader. I have loved being able to serve the elderly folks in our ward, and all the other service opportunities that the Church provides. I know that service is what Christ would want us to do, and I am glad that I am able to do it. I also try my best to stand for my beliefs in all walks of life, and live by the standards that have been put in place for our benefit.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Dillon
We can come to know our Father in Heaven by studying fervently the resources he has laid out for us. He has provided us with the Bible, and another testament of Jesus Christ, which is the Book of Mormon. In these inspired works, we read about Prophets that have been able to answer this question for themselves. Each day that we follow Christ's example, and live the way he would have us live, we can come to know our Heavenly Father. Our Heavenly Father is real, and he knows each and every one of us by name. He loves us, infinitely, it does not matter who we are, or what we have done. He, as well as his son, love us and want what is best for us. The key to our mortal life, is to come to know our Heavenly Father and Christ, this comes about by praying to God, and listening to the Holy Ghost speak to us. I testify that if we read the scriptures, and pray, and have faith in God, we can come to know truly who our Father in Heaven is and develop a personal relationship with him, for I know that he loves me, and he loves you and every one of his children regardless of race, gender, or background. How can I know Mormonism is true?

Dillon
This is a good question. The best way to know if the Mormon Church is the true Church, is to ask God if it is true. For if it is true, he lives, and wants to answer that question for us. He is not done speaking to his children on the Earth today, nor will he ever be. Personal revelation, or, having divine inspiration for one's self, is alive and well today, and he is a never changing God, he wants his sons and daughters to be successful in all they do. When you pray with faith, honestly believing that he will answer, you will receive a feeling that it is true, and you're life will greatly improve oftentimes in answer to that prayer. I know that another way to know that this Church is true is to read and study the Book of Mormon, it is provided for us, and in reading it, one can obtain an answer for his or her own self. I know that this has worked for me and I do know that this is the true Church upon the Earth, and I challenge you to do the same, find out for yourself if it is true, live the Gospel, and he will bless you! Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Dillon
I have been asked this question a lot by my friends, because they here about the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. in classes or elsewhere. A lot of rumors get passed around, but are very commonly not true, or bended. We, in fact, do not worship Joseph Smith, worshipping is reserved solely for our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I, as well as all other members in the Mormon Church recognize Joseph Smith to be a true Prophet. He was the Prophet that restored the true Church that Christ himself established, and he used the power of God to do it. I do believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and, we do not worship him, but respect him, and take his counsel into our lives to make us better. Show more Show less
