Hi I'm Michael

I'm a husband and father (and attorney) who loves people, reading, writing, and being outside.

About Me

Life is busy, AND (not but) wonderful! I'm in my late 20s, married, and the father of a handsome little boy and two beautiful little girls who delight me every day with their irrepressible curiosity and exuberance for life. Being a dad is better than I could have ever imagined it. Right now, I'm an attorney at a law firm in Denver, Colorado. I spend my days writing and reading contracts and trying to help companies navigate the legal requirements to accomplish their goals. And I spend my nights and mornings playing with plastic animals, reading Curious George books, and rolling around on hardwood floors. Both jobs are fun, but the night-and-morning job has better clients. I try to live my life intentionally, meaning that I try to think about what I want to accomplish and then work with that purpose in mind. My ultimate goal is to live a life filled with love and truth. As Victor Hugo wrote in Les Miserables, "To love another person is to see the face of God." With everything that we all have going on in our lives, it's so easy to appear, and even to be, unfriendly and uninterested. But despite my sometimes harried look, I love to make new friends and to connect with people over shared, or different, interests. I've told you a little bit of my story, and I'd love to hear yours.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was active in the church, but, like everyone, at some point I had to decide for myself whether the Church was true. I prayed about it and I read the Book of Mormon and I got an answer, which came as a sensation of pure knowledge, that the Book of Mormon was, in fact, the word of God. The second confirmation of my testimony came when I decided to more fully commit my life to Jesus Christ by seeking to obey ALL his commandments. When I follow the commandments I feel God's love overwhelming me and I know that God is real and that he loves me. Being a Mormon helps me to know how to feel the love of God at all times.

How I live my faith

Mainly, I just try to treat people with love and respect. I try to follow the counsel that Christ gave in the Sermon on the Mount. I don't have the right or the responsibility to judge or condemn others; instead, I have the obligation to forgive, to turn the other cheek, to give when others ask of me. I also read the word of God every day; pray to my Heavenly Father, thanking Him for all the blessings I've received and asking forgiveness for all my mistakes and help for all my weaknesses; try to encourage others to accept Christ as their Savior; and humbly acknowledge my reliance on Jesus Christ. I know that I'm not perfect -- not even close -- but I also know that Christ is, and that as long as I'm on his team, as long as I love Him, I can be happy and be saved in the Kingdom of Heaven.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Michael
In the Mormon Church, there is a big focus on building strong, positive relationships with family and friends. Relationships are the most important thing -- relationships with God and relationships with others. In everyday life, that means that we try to spend time with our family, study the word of God, put in a full day's work for a full day's pay, and be involved with positive community organizations. It can be difficult to balance the many activities that require our time, but as long as we stay focused on what matters -- loving God and loving others -- the Mormon lifestyle is one of joy and fulfillment.  Show more Show less
