Hi I'm Doris

I live in New Mexico on a farm and love doing family history. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I retired from teaching 8 years ago and have loved the freedom I have!! I love teaching--any kind of teaching, but I also love being able to decide what I want to do each day. I am married and have three grown children and seven grandchildren. My husband is a farmer so we live in the country and have cows, dogs, and cats. I have been a member of the church all of my life and come from a long line of Mormons on my mother's side. I appreciate the direction the church gives my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the best way to live--because this is truly the Church of Jesus Christ. I know that because I have studied, prayed, and every aspect of the gospel is given for man's happiness in this life and the next. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the literal Son of our Heavenly Father. They both love all of us equally and have provided the Plan of Salvation that gives us everything we need to meet our potential. The most important part of the Plan is that Jesus Christ died for us and allows us to repent and be forgiven. He is also our great example in the way He lived His life.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in many capacities in the church--my favorite thing is teaching because it keeps me reading and studying the scriptures. The youth of the church really keep me on my toes. The church encourages me and allows me to use my talents and always strive to become better. It is truly my way of life.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Mormon abridged many records from the Prophets who lived on this American Continent. His people were destroyed by others around 421 AD, but the records were preserved and given to Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ by another group of people. So, many Prophets "wrote" the Book of Mormon in the same way many Prophets "wrote" the Bible. This record was then translated, under God's inspiration, by Joseph Smith. It is a true book--a beautiful testimony of Jesus Christ and His teachings. Anyone can know that it is a true book by reading it prayerfully and asking God if it is true. That knowledge will be given. That is a promise given in the Book of Mormon itself. Show more Show less
