Hi I'm Emily.

I was raised in California, but have learned to call many places home. I am a wife and a mom to five kids. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in California, and because of that I have always loved and enjoyed diversity (foods, religions, languages, etc.). I have always had a particular interest in the Spanish language as well as in Central and South America. I studied Spanish at college, traveled to Mexico, and served a mission in Spain. I am the classic "Jack of all trades". I can do a little bit of a lot of things. I love everything about the outdoors: gardening, running, chasing my kids, hiking, water skiing, exploring tide pools, biking, making snowmen, etc. I also love to study almost anything, sew, play the piano, gather family history, make new friends, try countless new recipes, sing, make green smoothies, organize, de-clutter , and then hunt for "treasures" at garage sales. I am the wife of a hotel manager and mom to five children. We have moved around the country several times and have learned to love the east coast, the west coast, and several places in between. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending the LDS Church with my family. The doctrine always made sense to me and I enjoyed the relationships I made there with my peers as well as my leaders. I remember my the first year that I attended Girl's Camp when I was 12 years old. We were singing songs about the Savior and I felt his love for me so strongly. That was the first of many times I have felt the Spirit strongly affirm the reality of Jesus Christ, the love of my Heavenly Father, and the truthfulness of this gospel. Living my faith has brought great blessings of peace and joy to my life. I love teaching my children about the Church. I have one son who has asked me several times, "How do you know the church is true? How will I know?". It's comforting to know that his sincere prayers will be answered like mine have.

How I live my faith

I have enjoyed serving in my neighborhood and community since I can remember. Visiting widows with my mom and grandma and feeding the homeless are frequent memories I have as a child. I have also been very active in helping to serve underprivileged children. As a parent, I try to make sure that my children have the same opportunities that I have had - to learning to see past myself and meet the needs of others.
