Hi I'm Salem

I'm getting an MBA from BYU.

About Me

Happy father of 3 awesome kids. Husband to an amazing wife. I served a mission in Cambodia from 2000-2002. for work, I do sales and marketing for a small software company. Hobbies include playing sports from football to triathlons to surfing.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the church I took what I knew for granted. It was not until I was living in Cambodia that I actually put to use the knowledge I had to use. I studied the New Testament to better understand what Jesus actually taught, and decided to actually do what was preached. As I did, I found a unique kind of happiness, and I knew that what he taught was true. The book of Mormon confirms the same teachings and I know that the more I adhere, the happier my life becomes.

How I live my faith

My favorite parts of the church is Missionary work and working with youth. I also enjoy teaching Sunday School as well as speaking in church.

How does the Church finance its operations?

Salem
There are two primary donation vehicles that help the church operate. The first is called a "fast offering". Once a month, members of the church abstain from 2 meals(usually the first Sunday of the month) then donate at least the cost(usually more) of the two meals saved as a fast offering to help the poor and needy. These funds are distributed through the local clergy. The second is called "tithing". All members of the church donate 10% of their income to the church each and every year. These funds are used to pay for chapels, temples and the utilities and maintenance to operate those buildings. Budgets for local congregations are also pulled from these funds. Tithing funds are considered sacred funds and are used with extreme care throughout the church. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Salem
Mormons believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Unlike traditional Christianity, we do not believe in the trinity. We believe that God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three distinct beings, however they are one in purpose.   Show more Show less
