Hi I'm Jared

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of 4 children. I was born in the Philippines and I serve in the United States Air Force. I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe God created the world as a place for us to be temporarily separated from Him in order for us, as His children, to be tested and tried that we may become more like him. It's the same to me as raising my children for a time in my own house, then letting them "go into the world" to experience life, while using the tools I provided to them when they lived in my home. I love my children, but there are just some things that cannot be learned while under the direct oversight of a loving parent. As much as I would like to cause them to make good decisions, I am resigned to teach the correct principles and let them govern themselves at some point. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who taught me correct principles while I was in His presence and allows me now to "go into His world" to experience and be found worthy to return to Him. This knowledge means more to me than any other one thing. I know that through His Priesthood power my family can be together forever. My lovely wife Jeanette can be my eternal companion. This is incredible, but true. And I'm so thankful for that.

How I live my faith

I try to be as sincere and honest as I can be. I am not perfect at it but every day I set goals to better myself and love the life I choose to lead. I see my life reflected in my children and it makes me want to become a better person for their sakes. I try to focus on the most important things in life first, which means sometimes that some of the "good" things don't get done that I would like to do. I love to read non-fiction. I am a fan of history, biographies of inspiring people like George Washington. I pay my tithing and that keeps my finances in check. When I begin to lose focus in my life, I attempt to go back to the basics and re-focus my energies on the most important things. That happens a lot.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Jared
The Word of Wisdom is the Lord's health code for His children today. It includes eating healthy foods that make our bodies strong, exercising so we can perform His labors, and avoiding things that are harmful to our bodies and spirits. Typically, the items most often quoted to avoid are: Coffee, Tea, Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs. But really anything that is addictive in nature, or considered a stimulant I believe falls within the spirit of the Word of Wisdom and should be avoided. We fast from food and water once per month, as a means to remind our bodies of their dependence on physical nourishment, which at the same time allows or even forces out mortal bodies to be increasingly dependent on spiritual strength.
