Hi I'm Mansfield

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Father of two young boys and have a girl on the way. I am in the Armed Forces and am about to complete my Bachelors Degree in Applied Science.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have a deep desire to understand the will of the Lord and to understand why things happen the way they do. I have learned so much since joining this church only 8 years ago. The peace and joy that can be gained from learning why we are here, where we come from and where we are heading makes life more meaningful than words can describe. I know that this is Christ's true church. I know that He lives and loves his children. I bear witness that the blessings promised to His children can be obtained if we only choose to follow him and do his work.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a youth leader in the church. I am working with about 10 young men that are between the ages of 12-18. I also am involved in the Boy Scouts and Venture Crew programs for these youth. I work with 3 different families that I have the privilege of hometeaching.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Just as in times of old, the Lord has set guidelines for His people to assist them in their lives and allow them to have the most freedom they can to choose what actions they will take. One way the Lord has done this is by giving us the Word of Wisdom. The Word of Wisdom is an instruction from the Lord not to indulge in Coffee or Tea, Alcohol, Tobacco products, illicit drugs and to eat healthy grains, fruits and vegetables and to eat meat sparingly. The Lord promises those that do that the Destroying Angel will pass over you and that you will be granted strength and endurance by following this guidance. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The Prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson. He is the only person on the earth today that is divinely authorized to receive revelation of the entire world. He leads and guides Christ church by receiving revelation from the Lord and then using that revelation and the system the Christ established while he was on the earth and then reestablished when the church was restored in 1830 by the first prophet of this age, Joseph Smith Jr. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

The Family is essential to the Creator's plan. The population of this world with His spirit children is paramount. The Family unit is the unit which we are to bring these spirits to this world. It is the place where these spirits grow into the men and women that will be able to continue that same work of those that came before. We also believe that gender is an eternal quality. We believe that men and women had their attributes prior to gaining a mortal body and that those attributes will stay with us after we die and are resurrected. A structure that attempts to replace this divinely appointed system would be at odds our Lord's plan for His children. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The term "Mormons" comes from the "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ." Since the man who anthologized the record was named Mormon and his name is placed in the title of the book, many referred to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as Mormons and our church as Mormonism.
