Hi I'm Gary

I am a Husband, I am a Father, I am Friend, I am a Employee, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I work as a Business Development Manager, I have a loving family. My Wife Linda and I have been married for 28 years. We have two children whom we adopted, my Son Vuzi is 17 and my daughter Kaylee is 15. We adopted the children after being married for 13 years. We were unsuccessful in having our own children. We immigrated to Australia from South Africa in 2002 and I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ since the age of 11 when my family joined the church. I am an avid jogger and have run in excess of 45,000 kilometers over the past 20 years. I have run 35 standard Marathons, more than 80 half marathons and 6. 90 kilometer ultra marathons.

Why I am a Mormon

I was a young boy and family of our's who were members of the church sent the missionariers to our house. It took my father a while to accept their message but he did and we joined in 1971. I loved the stories, the friendships, the services and mormons are real people with real interests.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as Bishop of the Logan Ward and this is the second time I'm serving as Bishop. I was a Bishop in South Africa in the Bedfordview Ward. Being a Mormon has being a great blessing in my life and taught me so much about where I came from why I'm here and where I'm going to. I am a Home Teacher and visit families regularly to offer support, teach simple lessons to the family and offer service. I work extensivley with the youth, boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18. We have 'Youth Programs' that run one night in the week and we have dances and other activities periodically. The youth programs helped me when I was young and they have really helped my children. My biggest challenge is that all organised, competitive running happens on a Sunday, there fore I'm selective on what competative running I do and I have to travel to remote places where runs are organised for a Saturday. I still run 4 to 5 days a week and this gives me an added balance to my life.
