Hi I'm Janine

I'm from Lichfield, I love music, art, laughing, and life. And I'm a mormon.

About Me

Hi there! I'm Janine, I'm from a small city in the centre of England called Lichfield, I was born here, and I have done most of my growing here. I live with my wonderful other half and our son - typing that makes me feel so old and grown up - I'm still learning to domesticate myself however, I'm always going to be a big kid regardless of how old I get! When I'm not running around like a headless chicken after my toddler I absolutely love to draw. I'm a bit of a nerd, video games are my vice. If you don't find me sat in my bedroom with my music blaring and me singing along (poorly) on my free days then you will find me attached to a games controller. I do have productive hobbies however! I do love to cook! I'm not yet Delia Smith, but I'm getting there. I also love reading, knitting, writing stories, poetry and songs, and also learning new languages. In the future I would love to live and work in a different country and teach English as a foreign language. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I basically can't explain the process of why I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Because I quite literally walked into Church one Sunday in 2007. I got up early, (which for me back then was abnormal, Id usually get up after midday) and well from there I just changed. I'd never liked the idea of religion before, I was pretty much anti everything. But upon entering the church it was like my eyes were opened, I wanted to know more, and after reading the book of mormon, doing my research and attending for some time I knew that the church was true, and I was baptised on the 30th August 2007. Since being baptised Ive changed, I make better decisions, I have more patience, and I find I cope a lot better when times are tough. I strive to live the gospel as best as I can, and whilst Im not perfect, and I don't get to attend church as much as I want to, I am much happier living the gospel and trying to be more like Christ. I hope one day I can go on a mission and share the gospel with others, and share the joy that the gospel brings, that I feel every day through living by Gods standards.

How I live my faith

I try to live by the example of Jesus Christ. If I have any opportunity to do something charitable, I will try and take it. We all can do more to help others, even if it is through seemingly small acts of kindness, putting the vacuum round families home, doing the dishes for someone etc. It's all an act of charity that helps others.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

You know what? I really don't know! I'd heard that before joining the church, and after I had joined I heard it alot more. But when people have said that to me, and I ask them 'how is it a cult' they never actually have an answer to back up their accusations regarding the church. I think alot of people call it a cult, because they have little false information or no information whatsoever regarding our faith, and people always have a fear of things they don't understand. If you come to church one sunday with an open mind and heart, do some real research, and read the book of mormon you can clearly see it is no cult. I mean honestly, look up the definition of cult, and you will see the church is anything but a cult. Show more Show less
