Hi I'm Vicki Lynn

I'm a wife, mom, & substitute teacher. I'm a Mormon that grew up in So. Calif.

About Me

I am married to my husband of 25 years. I have 4 children--3 boys, 1 girl. I went to college and got a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in education because I love working with children. I love reading(especially mysteries), cooking, and I am trying to learn how to garden. I volunteer with the local library organization.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a I am a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I was growing up, I attended church regularly and participated in the many activities for the youth. However, when I was a young adult in college, I really gained a personal testimony of the Savior, His Atonement, and His gospel. Since that time, I have tried to live my life so that I am living his commenadments and raise my children to know about the Savior. I truly believe the Savior loves me and cares about me and my family. Having this knowledge helps me to live a better life.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to participate in the community and at church. Most of these opportunities have come through working with youth. I have been a Den Mother & Cub Scout Committee Chairman, volunteered in classrooms at the local school, and I teach a group of 7 year olds on Sunday. I also play piano accompaniments for those who share their talents during our Sunday meetings.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Vicki Lynn
As Mormons, we dress for church modestly and respectfully. For men, this usually means a dress shirt, tie, and pants. For women, this means a dress or skirt/blouse combination. Dressing in Sunday best shows our respect for the Savior and ourselves. As Mormons, we celebrate Easter and Christmas because we love and honor the Savior. We also celebrate other local and national holidays. In my area, the amount of celebration depends on the holiday. We celebrate Valentine's Day , Independence Day, Halloween Day, and Thanksgiving Day. Sometimes these holidays are celebrated with the family and some are celebrated with church activities. Additionally, as Mormons we celebrate Pioneer Day on July 24th to honor the early Mormon pioneers and their arrival in the Salt Lake Valley. Show more Show less
