Hi I'm Albert

I grew up in Maine. I worked 30 years for the Natural Resources Conservation Service. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 74 year old grandfather. I live in rural Maine with my wife. With her I recently served a two year humanitarian mission in Armenia. I love to garden, raise livestock and landscape. I enjoy music and participating in choral events. I love reading biographies, historical accounts, and doing genealogy. I like mountain climbing, canoeing, and riding horseback. I sometimes write poetry.

Why I am a Mormon

From the first time I met Mormon missionaries I had a desire to know for myself what is true and what isn't. I desired to have the same strong faith I saw in them. I had grown up religious, and had often wondered why religion in our day wasn't like that in the scriptures. I had to be suire that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon was true. After much searching, tudying and praying I came to know that the message of the restoration of the gospel taught by Joseph Smith is indeed true. The Book of Mormon along with the Holy Bible and the words of living prophets today are indeed the word of God to us. I love them and desire to live according to their teachings.

How I live my faith

I serve in church callings extended to me. I honor the priesthood of God. I hold family prayers, family scripture readings and family home evenings, as well as pray and study scriptures in private. I enjoy visiting the homes of church members to whom I'm assigned. I attend the Boston temple with my wife each month. I enjoy searching and gathering my family history.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is mostly a history of Israelites who migrated to this continent about 600 B.C. It records the Lord's dealings with them and the appearance of Jesus Christ to this people after His resurrection. The last prophet to hide the metal plates on which this history had been recorded was Moroni. It was he whom the Lord sent as His angel in the early 1800's to reveal the Book of Mormon plates. Joseph Smith was given the power to translate the plates by the use of the urim and thummim which was hidden up with the plates, and is like that used by ancient biblical prophets. Show more Show less
