Hi I'm Mary

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I joined the church at age 15 years. I was born and raised in beautiful New Zealand. I always thought I was the first member in my family until years later while doing genealogy work. I found out my Mom had been baptized when she was 8 yrs old. I have lived in the USA since I was about 18 yrs old. I married a great guy who joined the church also. We have been together for 36 years now. We have 4 super kids and 7 grandchildren whom we love dearly. There is nothing like family.

Why I am a Mormon

I started taking the discussions at age 15yrs. I had my spiritual testimony by the end of the 4th discussion. I say spiritual because that is the testimony burned into your heart and soul by the Holy Ghost. Sometimes we join the church because it makes sense analytically, or because it makes us feel good, or maybe the members treat me well and so I feel accepted. But the most important testimony is the one that only comes from the Holy Ghost. That has made all the difference in my life. When things get hard, or difficult to do I turn my heart and mind back to the way I felt on that day many years ago. I cannot even begin to imagine what my life would be without my membership in the Church. It is my life and always will be.

How I live my faith

Living the church is what keeps me grounded and on the right track. I have worked hard to establish my own personal relationship with the Savior. It is difficult to do what he wants us to do, if we don't know Him or what His expectations are. I serve in the church as much as I am able. Callings definitely help us to grow spiritually. Attending church on a regular basis helps me to take myself out of the world for that 3 hr window of time. It also gets me pumped up to endure another week in what is now a crazy topsy turvey world.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Baptism is the gateway to living with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The example of how we should be baptised was established by the Savior when He was baptised in the River Jordan by John the Baptist. Show more Show less
