Hi I'm Doug

I am a family man, business professional, and a police officer. I enjoy helping others. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father. I love my wife and children. They are my world. I work for a large payroll/employee benefits company. In my spare time, I work as a reserve police officer. I enjoy music of all kinds, even stuff my kids like. I like people and feel there is something to learn from everyone.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a deep abiding faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. I am a member of His Church because I know that He lives and loves me. My life has been blessed as I follow His teachings. Through His Gospel, I have come to know why we are here in this life and what it is truly about. This knowledge has brought great peace and meaning into my life and the life of my family.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Bishop of our congregation. While this position has a great number of responsibilities, I enjoy it because it provides me with an opportunity to serve my friends and neighbors. In truth, I would be happy with any position in the Church. My calling allows me to help others develop a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I get to work with all kinds of people, both young and old. We learn from each other and are stronger for it. They have become my family and I love them.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons have a great desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. As such, many choose to serve as full-time missionaries for a brief period of time. Mormons are not required to serve a mission, but many do. They volunteer their time so that others can have the same joy and happiness that can only come from a knowledge of our Heavenly Father's plan for us. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely. We believe in the same Jesus Christ spoken of in the Bible. He is the head of the Church and the foundation of our faith. I struggle to understand the misconception that Mormons are not Christians. It would be like saying people that live in California are not Americans. While there are differences among many of the Christian faiths as to theology, an acknowledgement of Christ's role as Savior and Redeemer binds us together as Christians. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries will share with you the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They will help you to understand the important life questions of where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going after this life. They will teach you how you can know the truth of all things for yourself. They will show you, in word and deed, the unconditional love that our Heavenly Father has for each of His children.
