Hi I'm Diane

I love being a Mom and Grandma. I love people and any opportunity to teach. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of eight children. Three of them are currently at home. Three are married and I have 5 grandchildren. My husband and I have been married for 30 years. We love spending time in the national parks. My hobbies are genealogy, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and reading. I also enjoy doing math puzzles. I love doing things with people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised to be a member of the church. When I was fifteen years old, I began to wonder if what I had been taught was really true. I had been taught that everyone can know, really know, by the spirit what the Lord wants them to do. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know what was right for me to know what was true. I read the book in two weeks. I had strong feelings come into my heart. It was warmth and excitement. I felt so happy. I remember wishing I could tell everyone how great I felt. I have continued by reading the scriptures to develop a relationship with the Lord and to understand in a small part what He wants me to do. I have felt Him change my heart. I have felt Him help me to overcome weaknesses and to become different. I know He lives and that He has blessed us with a prophet on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I have just finished an assignment to lead the women's organization in our local unit of the church. I am now working in family history and genealogy. I help other members in our unit discover their ancestors and relations. I am excited to do this because I think our heritage is important. I also am excited about the opportunity to provide baptism and similar ordinances for those who have passed away by proxy. I appreciate the way the church is organized to help us be responsible for and help each other. I visit a few sisters at least once a month and I am visited. I live my faith everyday and every hour as a try to be a mother that will help my children build a relationship with the Savior.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven't we always had the Bible?

Diane
The Bible is the writings of the prophets to the House of Israel in ancient times. It contains accounts of the Lord making them His covenant people. The Book of Mormon is the writings of prophets from a scattered portion of the House of Israel and the Lord's dealings in making them a covenant people. The Lord works whenever He can to make a covenant people with a prophet because He loves everyone. Although past scriptures teach us many things and are invaluable, the Lord, if a people are ready, will reveal anew Himself to them and create a covenant people to do his work on earth. That is what the restoration was. Show more Show less
