Hi I'm Ron

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a proud dad and granddad. I live in Arizona. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since I was 8 years old. I am married to Marilyn. She is a Professional Counselor. I am a veterinarian working in companion animal medicine. I love to read (especially U.S. History), scuba dive and play racquetball. My main passion is getting to know people and finding out what makes them tick. I am lucky to be surrounded by so many great family members, friends and neighbors. Thanks to taking the time to review my profile.

Why I am a Mormon

The simple answer to this question is that I was "born that way". I am a descendant of a long line of pioneers that sacrificed so much to live the gospel. That answer is, however, very incomplete. My participation in the gospel is a great source of joy and happiness to me. The commitments made at baptism and renewed every week while partaking of the sacrament represent the highest obligation and opportunity to come close to God. I feel that my participation in the gospel gives me direction and joy. My faith is based on the knowledge I have gained by study and the inspiration that I have gained from prayer. I have a certainty of the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. This is the core of my testimony of the "truthfulness of the Gospel" as restored by Joseph Smith. Truly, no man could have written this amazing canon of scripture. I know that I feel blessings in my life as I obey principles of the gospel. I receive a witness of God's approval of my choices when I listen and obey the counsel of the Prophets of our time. I invite anyone who is a true seeker of enlightenment and truth to read, ponder and pray about the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

"Living my faith" should be who I am. It is not about things I do to "be seen" but the choices I make in my daily life. I love the Scriptures. I love to interact with people. I love to serve those who are striving to overcome life's difficulties. I hope it could be said of me that I am a good friend. I am currently one of three instructors of the "Gospel Doctrine" Adult Class. The area of concentrated study for 2011 will be the NewTestament. I am exited to learn more of the life of Jesus Christ. I serve as a Home Teacher. This means that by assignment, together with a companion we visit families in our area. We are assigned visit a wonderful family. I say "by assignment" but the spirit of Home Teaching is the spirit of love for our brothers and sisters. One of my greatest joys is supporting my son as he serves a full-time 2 year mission for the church in Jacksonville, Florida.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Mormons love life. We believe that our possibilities, both in this life as well as in the life to come, are endless. That is why I think so many members of our church are involved in so many activities. The desire to get involved is the result of an overall optimism about life. I find that members of my faith are well-read, active in civic life and engaged in many worthy causes. Not every member agrees on what is the most crucial needs that need our help. In fact, many members come to very different conclusions about such things as political parties and affiliations. I think that this is a good dynamic. It makes us look at our ideas and test them against the realities of life. My "lifestyle" is a reflection of my upbringing as well as the influence of the church. I like hard work and am a very early riser. I do enjoy finding opportunities to serve. Show more Show less
