Hi I'm David

About Me

I'm a young husband going to university in Winnipeg, Canada. I'm studying Psychology and hope to be either a clinical psychologist or a teacher one day. I spent two years in Australia as a missionary for the Church. I like hockey, basketball and music. I love classic rock and indie pop. I would go to more concerts if I could afford it. I have been doing ballroom dancing since 2005 and I love it. I also enjoy anything that makes me laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of this church my entire life. My parents were both converted. Everything I learned growing up had always made sense to me. The Plan of Salvation, as restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, really is the most complete and logical picture for our eternal existence. As a teenager though, I really wanted to know for myself. I've never liked reading, so as a teenager I struggled to study the scriptures at any kind of consistent pace. I liked to pray though, and I would do so often; most often while walking home from school I would pour my heart out to God. I could feel Him near me, and it felt good. I prayed many times specifically about the church and about the Book of Mormon to know for myself if they were true. I always felt good, but I wasn't sure if that was really my answer. It didn't happen right away, but the answer did come, over and over again. Through experience and through prayer I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Jesus Christ restored His original church through Joseph Smith. I know that God lives and that He hears us when we pray. He loves us and sent His son, Jesus Christ to save us from our sins. Jesus Christ did all that He said He did.

How I live my faith

I help organize and prepare events and programs for young men aged 12-18 from all over the province. I teach a weekly class for those preparing to become full-time missionaries for the church. I love teaching and I love missionary work! My favourite way to help is to visit other members to see if there is anything that they are in need of. It's a great way to meet new people and offer a hand.
