Hi I'm Aidan

I'm from New Zealand. I try to make the most of life. I have six children and run my own business. And guess what, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of six children. I run my own business. I live in Australia but was born in New Zealand. I enjoy writing songs and I play the guitar. I am a soccer fan and love the beach.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason for being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has changed over the years. At first it was because I knew the Book of Mormon was true and Joseph Smith was a prophet. Now it is because I have a knowledge that this Church has brought me closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. I have an understanding of who He is and who I am and how we are related and will be together in the eternities if I continue on the strait and narrow path - which is His gospel. The more I study and ponder the words of the Lord revealed in scripture and through living prophets - the closer I feel and grow toward the Lord. It is a remarkable thing to be lead and guided by living prophets who reveal the word of God in our day just as Moses did to the children of Israel. It is also amazing to me that the Holy Ghost can be a constant companion and help us in all aspects of life - to overcome trials and struggles, to teach us, and direct us in our choices. This gift can only come after we are baptised and confirmed as members of the Church. What a blessing it is. It all started with Joseph Smith, a 14-year-old boy who wanted to know the truth of which church was the right one to join, but it ends with me and what I do with what was restored to the earth through him. At least that's how I see it. I am a Mormon because I have chosen to stand with the Lord and be numbered among His people. And there is nowhere else I would rather be. :)

How I live my faith

When I was 16 I read the Book of Mormon for the first time. It wasn't until I almost finished the book that I discovered there was something really special about it and I wanted to learn as much as possible. The Holy Ghost told me the Book of Mormon was true and since then I haven't looked back. I served a mission for the Church and since then I have been asked to serve in various callings in the wards I have lived in. I currently assist the Bishop of the ward as his counsellor. All these opportunities to serve others and the Lord have been a blessing to me and my family and have strengthened my faith in Jesus Christ. It is truely a blessing to be able to serve in the church. Through recent experiences I have learnt just how much Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love all of us and want us to be happy. I know they are real - they visited Joseph Smith and we will meet them again one day. It is because of this knowledge that I try everyday to be a better person - to give my whole heart and mind to God in everything I do. It is not easy - sometimes I struggle - but it is all worth it.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes - very much so. We read, study, teach and live by the teachings of the Bible - just as we do by the Book of Mormon, and the teachings of modern prophets in our church. They are all important and worthy or our attention. The truth contained in the Bible will be supported by the others and vice versa. In my opinion if we accept the Bible as truth then we accept that God can speak to man now as he did thousands of years ago. For God loves all his children and is the same in every age. What is the Law of Chastity?

The Law of Chastity is one of the most important laws of God. It means only having sexual relations with a spouse - legally and lawfully wedded. So before marriage we must keep ourselves "clean" and "pure" by abstaining from sexual relations with anyone. And inside of marriage remaining true and faithful to our promises we made to our spouse. In today's world this might seem very old fashioned but it is the only way to ensure that we can be safe, happy, and maintain self respect, and a peaceful confidence toward God. The Lord delights in the chastity of men and women and He wants us to be married and raise up a righteous family. When we choose to obey this law we are blessed. I have been. I know that I am very different from most guys my age who have experimented and lived loose lives - but I feel free from guilt, free from the consequences of unwanted pregnancy and abortion, free from STI's, free from baggage and regrets. The Lord truly knows what is best for us and how to help us be happy in this life and in the eternities. Show more Show less
