Hi I'm Dan

I'm a dad, a husband, a teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Michigan with my wife and 5 wonderful children. I have a masters degree in psychology and work in the counseling office at a large university and teach introductory psychology classes. I enjoy reading, running, gardening, cooking, music, and helping others. I also love sports and played baseball, hockey, and rugby in high school.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while in college. I have been an active participant ever since. As I was being taught by the missionaries I could feel the power and truth of their message. I remember the first time I read the Book of Mormon I just knew in my heart that it was scripture. I knew this because I felt good as I read it. Knowing that all good things come from God, I knew that this sacred text must also be from God. I was baptised shortly after that. Since that time I have had almost daily experiences that have served to strengthen my faith that the Gosepl of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth once again. This knowledge has been a great blessing to me and my family, it has helped me strive to be a better husband, father, brother, and son than I would naturally would be.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in my local congregation. I teach the young men, ages 12 to 18 on Sunday, and work with them on Wednesday nights for a variety of wholesome activities including Boy Scouts. It is thrilling to help build my own faith, while building the faith of those I love and serve.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Dan
Mormons dress in their "sunday best" for worship services on Sunday. This means a shirt and tie for men, with dress pants or a suit. And a modest dress for women. Mormons celebrate the same basic holidays that are observed in the countries they live in. I live in the United States so I celebrate the 4th of July and other national holidays, as well as religious holidays such as Christmas and Easter. We also celebrate secular holidays such as Mother's Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Show more Show less
